Since I can't seem to add new threads to the New Frontier board, I'll just post my thoughts on the first four book omnibus here, simply titled New Frontier.

I've not had this much fun reading Trek before! What a great set up and premise to a new series that is out of the comfort zone of our beloved Enterprise. I had just finished book 2 when I decided to order the second omnibus. I very much liked the mix of familiar: Shelby, Lefler, Selar, Jellico, Picard... with the new characters and locales.

Having said that, I have a difficult time believing in the durability of the Brikar species, being able to withstand a blast of weaponized plasma, and while it was an interesting addition to the lore, reading the different pronouns for the Hermat species slowed the pacing every time.

That's it really. That's all the criticisms I can think of for the series thus far. I look forward to reading the next two books contained within the Prometheans omnibus.
