For the record, we are not, I repeat not desperately trying to save a sinking ship! Anyone who says otherwise is a continuity pornographer!

Two Things for this upcoming episode:

1. The probe is from the planet of the whale people. (see ST-IV) (I'm just guessing...)

2. On the official Star Trek website, there is a picture of an explosion from what looks like engineering or possibly the shuttle bay and there are sparks flying everywhere. The point I want to know and hope will be done properly is will there be damage to the ship? i.e. broken computer consoles as well as black scorch marks.

This happen(ed)?(s)? quite a lot in the other series. The 50,000 Volt computer consoles blows and kills some ensign in a red shirt. But the computer screen, keyboard, basically the whole unit works fine and someone else goes over to take over the station for the fallen crewperson.

If my computer were to blow up and kill me right now I would imagine that the monitor wouldn't be in the same condition.

So to TPTB, PLEASE show some damage if the display is going to blow up.

It's possible that the PTB's would do that, however, if (by some strange happenstance), they wanted to remain true to continuity, they wouldn't. The probe from the whale people was sent to discover what happened to the humpback whales and (IIRC) was only unintentionally causing destruction. This attack is deliberate, and is in response to a {future) attack.

According to the episode credits on StarTrek.com, Silik's back. Yay! I missed that guy. I wonder what's been done to him since the failure of his last mission?

Spoilers ahead, highlight to read

He succeeded in a couple others so now he has a pair of wings and uber cool phasers that he can shoot out of his eyes.

the whale probe was a joke...

also on another topic entirely, Would TPTB have the nerve to include something thats related to V'ger?

Nitpicker: "Why did V'ger make an appearance on the Enterprise show?"

TPTB: "THE NITPICKERS INTERFERE WITH THE CREATOR IN THE SAME WAY! YOU ARE INFECTING THE DIRECTOR: Allan Kroeker AND THE WRITERS: Rick Berman & Brannon Braga" ONCE TELEVISION SWEEPS ARE COMPLETE, ALL NITPICKERS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE 3RD PLANET...

p.s. Does anybody think V'ger, Decker, and Ilia are origins of the BORG??

Y'know, I once thought about that possibility. But, unless I'm mistaken, the Borg are too ancient a race to have been the result of the events of ST-TMP. Perhaps the race that created V'Ger are related to the Borg.

By Brannon Braga on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 - 11:29 pm:

What's V'Ger?

By ScottN on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 - 12:18 am:

Non-Canon, but Shatner's The Return proposes that the machine planet from ST:TMP is the original home planet of the Borg.

By Brannon Braga on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 - 1:31 am:

You know, that gives me an idea for an Enterprise episode, oooooooo I'm gonna have Archer get teleported to the Borg homeworld by a mysterious force and while there he helps to create V'ger. oooooo this is gonna be sweet.

Just wait till I tell Rick.
