"How does Archer withstand multiple Xindi weapon shots while it kills every: MACO, Starfleet, and Vulcan crew person in one shot?" Torque

That's a good question Torque, but it happens all the time in Trek to make the scene more dramatic. It's a reoccuring nit though because at least phasers are supposed to affect the nervous system which should prevent any kind of movement.

Keith Alan Morgan: Rather than admit she loves Archer T’Pol explains her devotion to him because he saved her life? That just seems less logical to me than love.
Luigi Novi: I see a certain amount of sense in it. She owes him her life, so she decided to devote hers to making his life more comfortable.

Hasn't Archer saved her life before, not to mention everybody else on the ship? I haven't seen much of Enterprise but by the third season I would guess that they all owe him many times over.

ScottN: T'Pol showed way too much pain when her leg was trapped.

To me, some of her expressions looked more like trying to exert herself than that of pain.

Luigi Novi: Perhaps the weapon is so huge, and so powerful, that the Xindi didn’t want to waste its firepower on ships...

I believe what Sparrow was getting at is the Xindi ships that were protecting the sphere destroy the rest of the fleet, not the sphere itself.

I find it hard to believe that less than six thousand humans were left. That's of course only those they know of but I imagine many people would go off on their own for whatever reason at least. I loved the tactic T'Pol used when Enterprise was being boarded, but I doubt the other Xindi ship would allow that to happen.

This ep didn't remind me as much of Memento as it did 50 First Dates. In Memento he could only retain memory for a few minutes, seven I think, while in 50..., she at least had memory until she fell asleep. I'm pretty sure there were several memory-related shows and movies around this time so ST just got on the band wagon.

There was a very forgettable film called "Clean Slate" where the guy wakes up every morning with no memory of what happened in the past. He had a tape player wired to his alarm clock that explained the situation to him each morning.

BTW someone on Wikipedia pointed out that Ceti Alpha V being the last outpost of the human race as a rather cruel irony as within the next century the whole planet would be rendered almost totally uninhabitable by the destruction of Ceti Alpha VI.

Thanks. I removed that passage, since the observation that it is ironic is POV, and no source was given for it.

This episode vaguely resembles "Future Imperfect" (STTNG)

This tidbit may have been posted elsewhere - This story was originally conceived as an episode of Voyager. More on that here.

18 years later...

In response to Luigi Novi's June 16 2004:

quote:

ScottN: T'Pol showed way too much pain when her leg was trapped. From what I understand, Vulcans accept pain as a necessary warning signal, but T'Pol's crying and momentary whimpering was un-Vulcan.
Luigi Novi: Where has this been established?

I think I was working off of decades old memories of the (non-canon) Medical Reference Manual

You could say that it was established in TOS: Operation: Annihilate!, where Spock says that pain is a thing of the mind, and the mind can be controlled. He was keeping in check pain far greater than what T'Pol experienced when he was saying that.

T'Pol could still be alive by the time of Classic Trek.
