A GREAT box set. I got it for my birthday from my dad. I am SO glad that ELO has a new album due out this June.

Here's a frightening thought... I saw ELO live in concert back in '81. Hall and Oates opened.

Brian, have you heard the new E.L.O. song? It's called "Alright". I've got a promo copy of the single. The more I hear it, the better I like it.
One caveat, though, the new E.L.O. is more like the Electric Lynne Orchestra. From what I've seen of the credits, this is practically a Jeff Lynne solo album. No one from the original band appears on Zoom (the new album. Due June 12th.)

Later next month four of the original E.L.O. albums are being re-issued with bonus track: Eldorado, Discovery, Time and Secret Messages. Secret Messages was originally going to be a double album. Hopefully, that's what the re-issue will be.

My favorite tracks off the Afterglow box set are "Building Have Eyes", "Julie Don't Live" (good to see this one get an official release.), "Hello My Old Friend" and "Mandalay". One E.L.O. song that has never been put on a CD is "Drum Dreams". It was the b-side to both "All Over the World" and "I'm Alive" from the Xanadu soundtrack. Of course, there's also Jeff Lynne's "Doin' That Crazy Thing", which was available on a Seventies box set. But back then, box sets were like four or five of a band's album thrown together. As far as I know, the first modern box set was Bob Dylan's Biograph in '85.
