I am a HUGE fan of her work. Love Scenes is one of the must own albums. If my house were burning down it would the first thing I tried to save.
I was lucky enough to see her in concert once. She was opening for Tony Bennet. The show was amazing, and the two even did a few songs together which was great.
Any other fans of her work here?
No, but I like Tony Bennett.
Regrettably, I've not been exposed to her works. If I'm not mistakened, she is jazz, and where jazz female vocalists are concerned, my tastes run to Billie Holliday and, of course, Miss Ella Fitzgerald. If I can dig up a copy of Love Scenes, I'll give it a try.
I just picked up her latest, When I look in Your Eyes. Well, it's not THAT recent, but it was her last new album. It was nomianted for Album of the year at the Grammys. It went up against Steely Dan, U2, and Eminem. It never had a chance in hell, but hey, it's cool that it was nominated, right?
Is Clint Eastwood a big fan of her's? She sang the song over the closing credits of "True Crime."
Eastwood is definitely a jazz fan at any rate. Can we say, Play Misty For Me?.
I just got her new album, the Look of Love, the other day. If I wasn't in the middle of the Star Wars Radio Drama CD Box Set...
Maybe tomorrow.
I just bought "The Look Of Love." Wonderful CD. Diana's take on Gershwin's "S' Wonderful" is masterful.
My music tastes are very eclectic lately. I've bought CD's from Diana Krall, Deep Purple, Sheryl Crow and Blondie.
The Look of Love actually won two Juno (Canadian Grammy) awards earlier this year: Album of the Year & Best Vocal Jazz Album of the Year.
The really interesting thing was that Krall herself won Artist of the Year - quite an upset in a field that also included Leonard Cohen, Nelly Furtado and Amanda Marshall.
Is she Canadian, Kerrie? According to the liner notes on When I Look In Your Eyes, her management office has a Canadian address.
Ayup, she's from Nanaimo, British Columbia - hitherto solely famous as the home of the Nanaimo bar (uh, do they have those in the US? Creamy custard filling sandwiched between layers of chocolate and coco-nut?)
Seriously, we're all hugely proud of Krall up here. She's like the antidote to Celine Dion.
Ah, Canadians. I like them about as much as StarGate SG1 does.
Ok, I could have SWORN I put a at the end of that.....
I've never heard of the Nanaimo bar, Kerrie.
Diana Krall has a new CD coming out; I think the release date is 4/6/04.
When did she marry Elvis Costello?
