Punk at it's best.
We miss ya' Joey.
"Gabba! Gabba! We accept you! We accept you! One of us!"
"Hey! Ho! Let's Go!"
I saw the Go-Go's in concert on the 18th of last month. They segued from "We Got the Beat" into "I Wanna Be Sedated". The audience went wild. We were all dancing and singing along with it. They dedicated the song to Joey, of course.
The day I heard Joey had died I played RamonesMania and All the Stuff (And More) - Vol. 1. I nearly cried when I heard.
Regrettably, I never got the chance to see of the two greatest punk bands perform.

I found out about Joey on the radio, Vin Scelsa was doing a tribute of sorts, while I was driving down Cross Bay Blvd. on my way to RockRockRockaway Beach.
I did the same thing with RamonesMania for the next week, it was a staple in my car.
Some not-so-obvious Ramones favorites:
"Somebody Put Something in My Drink"
"Indian Giver"
"Beat on the Brat"
"Animal Boy"
God Speed, Joey. You were truly a legend in your own time. You provided a conduit directly from the past to the future, and may have saved rock-n-roll in the process.
What about "Pet Cementary"? Has anyone heard their Acid Eaters disc. Those are some pretty... unique takes on some 60's classics.
What about their version of the 60's Spider-Man cartoon theme on the "Saturday Morning" cd?
Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can!
Benn -- is the "Gabba, Gabba" quote from one of their albums? That's a line from the 1931 movie "Freaks" directed by Tod Browning. (Surreal, creepy, and short, just over an hour).
Sorry if I'm stepping on your toes, Benn, but I think aifix is on to something that I was unaware of. I just looked up "Freaks" at imdb and there is a reference to "pinheads" in the movie. The Ramones "gabba gabba" reference is from a song called of theirs called "Pinhead". Seems the old boys were enobling themselves by comparing themselves to the freaks from the movie.
(or should I have said "embiggening", which is a perfectly cromulent word)
Miko Iko, you're using five dollar (or is that Yen?) words with a twenty five cent word crowd!
Actually the whole "Gabba gabba. We accept you. One of us" is from Freaks. It was said by the freaks to Venus the night before she and Hans (the midget) were to be married. As a matter of fact, if I'm not mistakened, at the end of "Pinhead", the high-pitched voices are taken from the movie.
Don't worry about stepping on my toes, Miko. I'm not that egotistical. (The only reason I'm up at this hour [it may only one in the afternoon, but I work graveyards] is that air conditioner in my apartment isn't working properly. I just chewed out the management about it.)
I'm listening to Disk 2 of their 2CD Rhino set right now again.
Marky Ramone is currently on tour. He's doing a spoken word show. He's due to hit Dallas within the next month. Does anyone know what his show will be like?
