This chick ROCKS!!! Not only that but she's very intelligent, talented and beautiful. She's got a new album coming out (no pun intended) called Skin and I can't wait for it. I saw her new VH1 special and it was pretty good. She read excerpts from her new book, too. I've got all her previous albums, but can't seem to get Breakdown to play on this computer. It's an enhanced one with a choppy minivideo on it and there's really no way to get only the music to play that I can see, unless it's after the video plays. I'll have to keep trying.

I too am a Melissa Etheridge fan, though i thought Your Little Secret was a little weak.

My college roommate Jen was/is a rabid Melissa fan. There were three of us, and we loved to scream the lyrics to "Brave and Crazy" whenever and wherever the spirit struck us.

We did Jen's birthday to the theme of "Somebody Bring Me Some Water." We made up little posters with her picture (sticking up her middle finger, I believe) with the title, "Somebody bring this woman some water, she's burnin' up!" and posted them all over campus. She is not a morning person, shall we say, and we put dozens of strips of clear packing tape (clear? water? get it???) across the door to her room, sticky side in, of course, and we played the song on full blast to get her to stumble out of bed and into the sticky tape. We had the campus mailroom put a glass of water in her mailbox. Etc., etc. Ah, those were the days.

(Not that anybody cares, I'm sure, but my story was related to Melissa Etheridge, and it was a nice trip down memory lane for me!)

Anyway, some of Melissa's stuff is brilliant, but other than that, I think most of her songs sounds the same. Coincidentally, I decided to give Your Little Secret another chance yesterday, Todd, but it didn't do much for me. But the keyhole packaging is very cool, you must admit.

Mark, if you haven't already, you need to see Melissa in concert. She is pretty intense.

juli k: It's Jared Todhunter, not Todd.

Oooops. Sorry.

Of Melissa's albums I have Melissa Etheridge, Yes, I Am and Your Little Secret. I also have a CD single of "Enough of Me".

I like her, but I cannot for the life of me shed the notion that she is Bonnie Raitt-lite. It just seems to me that she's trying very hard to emulate Raitt. But that may be a misconception on my part, however.

Her new album, Skin, will be released tomorrow.

Juli, I'd love to see her in concert, but right now I can't afford it, nor do I know where she's playing. I can't help but wonder, though, how many lesbians would be there and hate having any men there, too. Well, actually lesbians wouldn't be bothered too much by it but a lot of dykes sure would, but so what? Melissa's there for everyone to enjoy listening to, regardless of age, sex and sexual orientation.

I've been listening to her albums in order of their releases and haven't listened to "Your Little Secret" again yet, but I did listen to "Never Enough" last night while waiting to fall asleep, and it's a great album. It was kinda daring for her to pose topless on the cover. Granted, her back's to the camera, but still....

Sorry, but her cover of Janis' "Piece Of My Heart" sucks big time.
