Taste of Honey and Casino Royale are GREAT instrumental pieces.

Herb Alpert is the "A" in A&M Records. His partner, Jerry Moss, is the other. Are they still involved, or did they sell?
Also, "The Lonely Bull" was a great piece.

Yeah, too many people think of TJ Taxi when they think of Herb. Some of his later stuff is good too... I'm partial to "1980" and "Rise".

By Benn on Sunday, July 15, 2001 - 11:58 pm:

Herb and Jerry Moss have, since leaving A&M Records, formed Almo Records.

Add to the list of "just as good as TJ Taxi" ...
Zorba the Greek
A Taste of Honey

And who can forget that album jacket with the girl covered in whipped cream ...

You mean that wasn't an Ohio Player album? Oh. Wait. She had honey all over her body.

I LOVE Herb Alpert! And I especially love Casino Royale. Every time I hear it it immediately takes me back to my childhood, driving around with my dad, listening to his beloved Tijuana Brass tapes...

Not me, since some months ago someone brought in that CD to play at work. There was a fairly recent new photo shoot someone did on that, as sort of an homage to it, but I forget who and when exactly it was. I just seeing something about it sometime ago.

Also, I remember as a kid watching what I seem to remember as an outdoor game show, but these days I'm not so sure anymore. All I can seem to recall is a camera angle high above the grounds, which included a huge manmade(?) lake with two-man paddle boats and maybe sailing boats moving around, and the music played reminds me of something Herb Alpert may have done, but I wasn't into the music at the time so I dunno know if he had anything or not to do with the music at all. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? I'm not even sure if I'd remember the name of the show, either.

Wasn't that game show called "Win, Lose or Draw" which was a glorified version of "Pictionary"? It starred Bert Convey, I believe ...

I think you remember the show that way because they did quite a few episodes from the Epcot Center's "Lake of the World".

No, Derf, but thanks anyway. It was a 70s show. Those others were from the 80s and 90s, respectively. I searched for Herb and TJB on Yahoo and found the A&M Corner Forum message board on a fan page and one guy said this:

The name of the show was called "Its a Knock out" and was filmed over here in the UK. It ran for over 10 years in the 70s and now it has returned to UK TV on Channel 5 still with Herb doing the theme music (from SRO "Bean Bag") Hope this helps?

By Derf on Thursday, July 19, 2001 - 11:07 pm:

"It's a Knock Out" ... doesn't give much clues to the game show's topic ... (other than boxing sports questions/answers). I suppose it could be a game show like Bill Cullen hosted in the '70's called "Blockbusters" ...

By Benn on Friday, July 20, 2001 - 10:35 am:

"It's a Knock Out/If looks could kill/They probably will/In games without frontiers..." That game show is what that line refers to.

By Derf on Friday, July 20, 2001 - 8:44 pm:

(that still doesn't say what the game show's premise is ...) Does anyone know wht this game show's objective was/is?
