I loved this Pre-Soundtrack. I know a lot of critics lambasted Brooks for this, but I liked it!

I'm a Garth Brooks fan. I even bought Sevens the day it came out. And I like one or two of the songs from the Chris Gaines cd, but....

What the hell was he smokin' when he thought up the idea?!?!

I think the whole movie thing that was supposed to spin off from this was a load of bull.

BF: Well, when WHY did you post here you ••••••• troll?

By BF on Thursday, July 19, 2001 - 9:31 pm:

Anti-Troll, shove it! I didn't think the Chris Gaines alter-ego was a good idea, and so did a lot of other people. Garth should have just cut the album and released it under his own name.
Hell, he did a KILLER version of KISS' "Hard Luck Woman" for a tribute album (and actually performed it with them on the Tonight Show), so why not?

The comment about the movie being a load of bull comes from the fact that the idea was dropped abruptly with no explanation whatsoever, when some footage had already been shot and was shown on that special Garth did as Chris Gaines. The last I heard, shooting was supposed to have been delayed for a couple of months, and that was a long time ago! The movie was supposed to have been released already, as a matter of fact.

(My theory is that Garth realized that everyone thought he was nuts because he was talking about Chris Gaines as if he were a completely different & real person, instead of a character Garth was playing)

Garth Brooks fan (and fan of his music asChris Gaines), yes. Fan of the Chris Gaines character, no way!

I love the whole Chris Gaines idea simply because it points out what an under developed sense of humor much of the world has.

BF: Looking back, I think Anti-Troll had a point, and no I don't mean the one on top of his head. You did respond rather rudely to the album, and later to Anti-Troll him/herself.
