I did a complete about-face on this. When Queen's Live Killers first came out, I thought it sounded awful in that they miked the audience. Now I can't stand live albums that don't. Of course, with audience-participation taken to the levels Queen took it to, you HAVE to mike the audience, but to me there's nothing worse than listening to a live album and forgetting it's a live album. Changing the arrangements also goes a long way towards this. But anyway, I'm curious which live albums you think are the best SOUNDING (ie, not just a live album by your favorite artist).
Bruce Springsteen's 5-LP 1975-85 live anthology boxed set has GREAT sound.
I have that on vinyl. Only played it once. I want to get the CD's to preserve the vinyl albums...
