This line appears in multiple tracks on the album of the same name

And another "stone" song I thought of:
“Shooting Shark” – B.O.C.
“Sick of hauling your love around
Wanna run my train alone.
But the engine tracks straight to your heart.
It weighs me like a stone.”
Two corrections:
"My Word Is Bond" is not by L.L. Cool J as I mistakeningly posted. It is by Ice T. I have no idea how I could have confused the two.
The correct lyric to "Short People" should be "They're gonna get you every time."
We regret these errors.
One more time song:
"One More Time" - Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Charlie Rich also had a song called The Most Beautiful Girl In The World.
Both are quite different songs. I thought the Charlie Rich tune had already been listed. Hence the omision.
Two other titles mentioned above are shared by other artists, but for wholly different songs:
Suede - "Beautiful Ones"
and
Daft Punk - "One More Time"
Another song of beauty:
The Beautiful South - "Perfect 10" (which was also a "time" song, mentioned above)
I bought a watch, to time your beauty,
But I've had to fit a second hand
Once again, some more "time" songs:
“Rock and Roll” – Led Zeppelin
“Been a long time
Since I’ve rock and rolled.”

You arrive
Another person."
And now some mo' "beautiful" songs:
“Beautiful Loser” – Bob Seger

“Now in her child-like eyes,
You see a beauty there.
You know it was always there.
And you will need no longer wear
A disguise."
"Sven of Nine, stealing Butch`s line - sorry Mr. B! on Monday, July 15, 2002 - 12:09 pm:
"Benn, this board is at 178.6k!
"By Butch Brookshier on Monday, July 15, 2002 - 09:45 pm:
"Sven, that's Derf you need to bring this type of thing to the attention of."
Why do I feel like Sven is making a comment on how large my posts are? Paranoi?
Anyway, I don't know about anyone else, I'm bored with "time" and "beauty" songs. On to a new word - "name". And to kick things off...
"Name Your Monster" - The Brain Surgeons
"What's Your Name?" - Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Sign Your Name" - Terrence Trent D'Arby
"Feel the Thunder" - Blue Oyster Cult
"Even time cannot reveal
Riders with no name."
"The Siege and Invesiture of Baron Von Frankenstein's at Weisseria" - Blue Oyster Cult
"A drug by the name of
'World Without End.'"
"Hot Child In the City" - Nick Gilder
"No one knows who she is
Or what her name is."
"Endless, Nameless" - Nirvana
n.p. - All For You - Janet Jackson
HOW could you forget:
"Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name"
("Sympathy for the Devil," Rolling Stones)
"Name," Goo Goo Dolls
"ADIDAS," Korn
(I don't know your name
So what? Let's ....)
(Haven't we done "name," though?)
No...I think we just did names, as in actual people.
Horse With No Name, America
From Carefree Highway, Gordon Lightfoot:
Well her name was Anne
And I'll be damned if I recall her face
Some Fantastic, Barenaked Ladies:
One day I'll construct a satellite
and I'll name it after you
What a Good Boy, ditto:
This name is the hairshirt I wear...
All I Wanna Do, Sheryl Crow:
He says his name's William but I'm sure
He's Bill or Billy or Mac or Buddy
Nobody put up the "Theme from Cheers"?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name...
Before anyone mentions "name" again [too late - everyone], here's a belated "time" entry, which will come as no surprise to many:
"Faith of the Heart" - Rod Stewart
[a.k.a. "Where My Heart Will Take Me (Theme from Enterprise)" - Russell Watson]
It's been a long time,
But my time is finally near
Now for a "name" one, and it's that band again [and that song again - everyone]:
The Beautiful South - "Song For Whoever"
I wrote so many songs about you
I forget your name
"Copacabana" - Barry Manilow [No God, NOOOOO! - everyone]
Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
"My Name Is..." - Eminem [someone had to mention this, may as well be me]
"You Give Love A Bad Name" - Bon Jovi
"Disco 2000" - Pulp
Your name was Deborah,
It never suited ya...
The theme from "Fame"
Baby remember my name
"The Way You Love Me" - Boyzone [I'm truly, truly sorry]
I love the sound of your name on my lips
As far as that last one goes, Sven...
Folks, I think we're losing him to the dark side.
Yeah...that 'theme from Fame's the clincher, I think.
HEY!!
For names, I think we ALL missed "Vogue"!
Three more I meant to post last night:
"Name and Address" - Wings
"Call Me Back Again" - Paul McCartney and Wings
"I called your name
Every night since then."
"You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" - The Beatles
Name
"Like a Prayer," Madonna
When you call my name
It's like a little prayer"
"Deacon Blue" - Steely Dan
"They've got a name for the winners in the world
And I want a name when I lose."
"#9 Dream" - John Lennon
"I thought I could hear
Hear
Hear
Hear
Somebody call out my name.
John
As it started to rain.
Two spirit dancing so strange." (Also a "rain" song. This is my favorite solo John Lennon song.)
Time...
"Pretzel Logic" -- Steely Dan
I have never met Napoleon
But I plan to find the time
I've Got a Name, Jim Croce
These next two come from long exposure to my mom's favourite Oldies FM station and should not be taken as a reflection of my musical tastes:
The Name Game, Shirley Ellis (all together now! Shirley Shirley bo-bir-lee...)
Wildfire, Michael Murphey (And the pony she named Wildfire...)
I Call Your Name The Mamas and the Papas.
What's Your Name Don & Juan
What's Your Name (different song) Lynyrd Skynyrd (Benn missed this one?)
Name of the Game ABBA
The Name Game Shirley Ellis
Shirley, Shirley, bo Birley Bonana fanna fo firley, fee fye mo Mirley, Shirley!
Ah! Kerrie! You posted yours just before I did mine! Well, as I like to say, "Great minds think alike!" *high-fives Kerrie*
And I loved Wildfire when I was a kid!
"The Chicken Song" - from the TV show "Spitting Image"
Form a string quartet
And pretend your name is Keith...
[Ahhh, we think he's back to normal now! - everyone]
"Games Without Frontiers" - Peter Gabriel
Hiding out in tree-tops,
Shouting out rude names
The Chicken Song also counts under old words 'time', 'song' and 'green'.
Its the time of year
Now that Spring is in the air
When those two wet gits with their girly curly hair
Make another song for moronic holidays
That nauseate-ate-ate
In a million different ways
...
Paint your left knee green
It's been ages since I heard The Chicken Song - does anyone still have a copy anywhere? (or, dare I say it, have it on .MP3? )
Sven--
Kazaalite. Exact same as Kazaa, but minus banner ads and spyware.
I use it all the time, and I personally think it far superior to Napster (in that Kazaa has videos, tv shows, images, documents..).
"What's Your Name (different song) Lynyrd Skynyrd (Benn missed this one?)" - MarkN
No Mark. You missed it. It was my first song to list.
Did we forget "Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls?
Or how about Lobo's "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo"? (Somehow, for some reason, I've thought Scott'd be the one to post it.)
Then there's "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash.
Jim Croce's "I've Got a Name" was mentioned, what about "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown"? ("On the South Side of Chicago/The baddest part of town/And if you go down there/You just better beware/Of a man named Leroy Brown.")
For Snickerdoodle, I list Duran Duran's "Rio" - "Her name is Rio/And she dances on the sand."
Anyone remember Simple Mind's "Don't You Forget About Me"? "Will you call my name?/As you walk on by."
The Monkees' (who are playing Billy Bob's right now. And I'm not there 'cos I'm too frickin' broke to go) "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" - "But you won't find my name/In your book of Who's Who."
The Beatles' "Rocky Raccoon" - "Her name was Magill/But she called herself Lil/But everyone knew her as Nancy."
"Lola" - The Kinks "She walked up to me/And she asked me to dance/I asked her her name/In a double voice she said, 'Lola.'"
np - "Midnight Cowboy" by Faith No More (for the third time. I love their version of the song!)
"Name," Goo Goo Dolls? Look in the post where I was berating you about forgetting "Sympathy for the Devil.";)
Ooops. Sorry.
Oh. To make for a lack of Stones "name" song, how about another "time" song by them? "Wild Horses" (probably my favorite by them.) "I have my freedom/But I don't have much time."
Another "name" song:
"Darlin' Nikki" - Prince and the Revolution
"I knew a girl named Nikki
I guess you could say she was a sex fiend."
"She said, "'Sign your name on the dotted line.'"
Another two "name" songs from my good old days that were pre-pubescence:
The Shamen - "Ebeneezer Goode"
There's a guy in the place with a bittersweet face
And he goes by the name of Ebeneezer Goode
They Might Be Giants - "Birdhouse In Your Soul" (which also qualifies for songs with colours)
My name is blue canary one note spelled l-i-t-e
One more "name" song:
"The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie Down" - The Band/Joan Baez
"Virgil Cain's my name."
np - Glenn Miller

"Underneath the Stars," Mariah Carey
(One summer night, we ran away for a while...
"School's Out," Alice Cooper (I think that's the title)
(School's out/for summer)
That's all, for now...
I thought Bananarama did "Cruel Summer" originally. Is the Ace of Base song the same one?
they did. Ace of Base did a cover of the same song.
Ok, so technically not a song, there's the instrumental theme to the 60's surf movie, Endless Summer by The Sandals.

"You took the words right out of my mouth" - Meatloaf
{On a hot summer night...}
Here's a couple more "summer" songs:
"Suddenly, Last Summer" - The Motels
“Blinded By the Light” – Bruce Springsteen
“Madman drummer
Bummer
Indian Summer
With a teenage diplomat.”
On another board (the one about "riffs") the Queen and David Bowie song "Under Pressure" was being discussed. It put the song in my mind. I realized that the lyrics contain two words we'd been listing. One is "rain" -
"Chipping around
Kick my brains
On the floor.
These are the days it never rains
But it pours."
And "word":
"'Cos love's such an old fashioned word."
How about more name songs, this time with names of places?

Wasn't there already a board in which we dealt with songs that named places?
More summer songs:

Another place name?
"Everest" - The Supernaturals
It's bigger than Birmingham!
Lazy, Crazy Hazy Days of Summer” (I have no idea who all has recorded this.)
That would be Nat "King" Cole", Natalie's dad.
Ah. Thanks Butch. Somehow, I would thought it was older than that.
Here's a new word:
"Supercaliflagilisticexpialidocious".
Ooops! I think I just named them all. Sorry!
"Supercaliflagilisticexpialidocious".
Is that what happens when a grizzly bear wears a flag as a cape to become a hero?
I don't know of ANY songs containing that word...
"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", on the other hand...
I saw a Summer video the other day on CMT and kept meaning to post it here.
Summer's Coming, Clint Black (funny video with Howie Mandel on the beach. He sees lots of shapely female figures from behind and when he goes up to them they turn around and turn out to be men with wigs on, like Dick Clark; the end shows Lisa Hartman-Black and a longhaired Joey Lawrence pops up in front of Howie with his, Joey's, signature "Whoa!")
Place names:
"Blue Jay Way" (song) and Abbey Road (album), by The Beatles.
"'Supercaliflagilisticexpialidocious'".
Is that what happens when a grizzly bear wears a flag as a cape to become a hero?
I don't know of ANY songs containing that word...
"'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'", on the other hand..." - ScottN
D'Oh! I knew I shoulda checked the spelling. Shows ya how much of a Disney fan I am (not). Perfectly good joke ruined by my idiocy. I swear Scott, sometimes I think you take a perversed pleasure in finding my spelling and grammatical errors.
So anyway, four more "summer" songs:
"Hot Summer Nights" - Walter Egan
"Long Hot Summer" - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
"The Seasons: Summer" - Vivaldi
"The Last Day of Summer" - The Cure
And yet two more "summer" songs:
"Bus Stop" - The Hollies ("All that summer we employed it/By August she was mine.")
"That Summer Night" - Buck Dharma
New word, suggested by, I believe, Snickerdoodle (maybe Hannah) in a chatroom:
"Drive". Have fun.
"Summer Nights" - from the musical Grease.
"The first picture of you" - Lotus Eaters
The first picture of you
The first picture of summer
Seeing the flowers scream their joy
"Second Summer of Love" - Danny Wilson
"The Other Side of Summer" - Elvis Costello
(this is also a "beauty/beautiful" song - The sun struggles up another beautiful day)
Speaking of beauty/beautiful, did anyone mention "Beautiful Day" by U2? If not, then I will.
Another "beauty" song also springs to mind:
"Mary's Prayer" - Danny Wilson
Blessed is the one who shares
The power and your beauty, Mary
England Dan and John Ford Coley's "Nights Are Forever (Without You)": "Soft summer nights spent thinking of you/When will I see you again?"
Type O Negative's "Green Man": "Sol in prime/Sweet summertime/Casts shadows of doubt on my face."
Some "drive" songs to kick it off:
"Drive On" - Johnny Cash
"You're Love Is Driving Me Crazy" - Sammy Hagar (There's a more obvious Red Rocker song I'll let somebody name.)
"Stairway to the Stars" - Blue Oyster Cult ("You can drive my motor car/It's insured to thirty thou.")
"In Thee" - Blue Oyster Cult ("Winter will come along/Driven by snow.")
"Drive" - R.E.M.
"Drive," Incubus
"Drive," The Cars
"Born to Run," Springsteen"(The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
"Drive," Kenney Chesney (I heard it at a friend's house)
"Drive My Car" - The Beatles
"(You Drive Me) Crazy" - Britannia Spears
"Ocean Drive" - Lighthouse Family
What about anything by Bachman-Turner Overdrive?
Does "drove" count?
"Jungleland" -- Springsteen (The Magic Rat drove his slick machine over the Jersey state line).
Personally, I'd count "drove". But that'd be Derf's call, as he established this thread way back when.
How 'bout we include 'drove' as long as it refers to transportation?
From Boys of Summer, Don Henley:
I'm drivin' by your house
But oh no, you're not home...
Slip Sliding Away, Paul Simon:
He drove a long way
Just to explain...
Pinch Me, Barenaked Ladies:
I could walk but I'll just drive
Five Days in May, Blue Rodeo:
Later on they took his car
Drove on down where the beaches are...
Fast Car, Tracy Chapman:
'Cause I remember when we went driving
Driving in your car
I Drove All Night, Cyndi Lauper
She Drives Me Crazy Fine Young Cannibals
[slaps hand on forehead] D'OH! I forgot about those ones, Mark - silly me, especially since I included both of those songs (well, the Roy Orbison version of the former) on an old tape I made years ago.
"Driving In My Car" - Madness
"Driven By You" - Brian May
"Driver 8" - R.E.M.
"Day Tripper" - The Beatles ("Sunday driver, yeah.")
"I Can't Drive 55" - Sammy Hagar (The obvious Hagar song I alluded to earlier.)
"Millie and Billie" - Alice Cooper ("Drivin' along with our guilt well concealed.")
Hey, if'n youz guys think "drove" oughta be allowed, it's okee-dokee by me ... I set up some "guidelines" that I called "rules" way back when, but you can certainly augment/change them as you see fit.
Derf, this one is up to 100k. Maybe time for pt 4?
"In The Summertime" - Mungo Jerry
Have a drink, have a drive
Go out an' see what you can find
Not that I'd advocate those particular lyrics - they were actually used in an anti-drink-driving campaign in the UK some years ago.
"You drive us wild
We'll drive you cra-zy.
You keep on shouting.
You keep on shouting.
(What?
I
Wanna rock and roll all night
And party everyday!" - "Rock and Roll All Nite" - KISS
"What's a little lady like
Drivin' 'round in an automobile?" - "Little Lady" - Duke Jupiter
"Driver's Seat" - Sniff N' the Tears
"The driver said,
'The border's just over the bluff.'" - "Then Came the Last Days of May" - Blue Oyster Cult
(Technically, I suppose, "driver" is actually an illegal derivative of the word "drive". But I'm presenting these examples anyway, since I already screwed up by mentioning "Driver 8" by R.E.M. and "Day Tripper" by the Beatles.)
Yeah, Butch ... even my cable modem is having a tough time churning this thread out. I'll end this thread now, and open part 4. Thanks for the observation, Butch.
