In the wake of Hear'Say's recent split, here is a board for discussing bands that have literally gone "pop" - i.e. split, disbanded (pardon the second pun), gone their separate ways. In most cases, a band going defunct or having a key musician leave the band is a real loss to the world of music and to the band's fans, whereas in others it may be a case of shooting a lame horse.

In other cases, bands and partnerships that were terminated, sometimes acrimoniously, do tend to find a way to get back together again (a recent example is the release of the latest album by David McAlmont and Bernard Butler, who several years ago produced some fantastic music then fell out with each other in a big way). Opinions?

This is as opposed to having band members confronting that other great equaliser, death (there's already a board for that) although the two aren't exactly mutually exclusive.

It has been confirmed that Toploader are to split after three years and one huge and catchy, if slightly overplayed, hit single (among others).

I've just heard reports that S Club, the thinking man's manufactured pop band (formerly known as S Club 7), are to split up at the end of May.

For reasons I can't seem to figure out, I'm actually saddened a bit.
