Anyone in Germany heard of this?

Here are the lyrics, and again translated into English.

The Beatles did it first and better...

"That's one for you, nineteen for me...

'Cause I'm the Taxman..."

True. Gotta hand it to that Harrison bloke, in one of the few Beatles songs to address both Edward Heath and Harold Wilson.

But (getting back to topic) I have to say I do like the wordplay in this German song, even though it was pointed out to me by the above sites.

Sven, you asked about the people in germany, so here's my opinion:

the song just appeared recently, and some people are saying because of the music, it will be the hit of the carneval (Insert: german tradition: to celebrate the day before the start of fasting 40 days before easter, there is a big celebration of everything that will be forbidden - music, dancing. Also dressing up, like halloween, but without any scaring, just dressing up whatever you like and dancing in the street. in the rhine cities like mainz, koeln and duesseldorf, where carneval is an important part of life - the 5th season. People spend one year to build floats and practice parade to show on one monday or tuesday before the end - these floats are often political, too. And then these carneval clubs have bis meetings with speeches poking fun at politics, too. Every year some music is considered the hit because its good to dance to at all the carneval parties taking place everywhere. Oh, and officially the carneval started monday, 11th of november, at 11:11 am, but the parties really start after christmas. End of german local culture explained :)) oh, I'm looking forward to the carneval, as its fun.

Although its true that schroeder is a power-hungry politican like kohl and the others, and I certainly don't want to have to pay higher taxes, I think its typical that everybody gets mad when a social liberal (a bit like the democrats?) politican breaks his words, but when in the last 16 years, the conservatives broke their words, nobody cared or dared to challenge them to it. Double standard once again.

And of course, there is the fact that germany's economy is still downhill because of the general recession, and is in danger of not making the EU criterias for economic stability. So, before we get a letter from brussel with a fine, there's sth. that has to be done.

The Steuersong has become the #1 in the charts in Germoney. And the next "Gerd" song will enter the country's finals for the Eurovision Song Contest. J

Now there's a new song&video of the Kanzler. As you may have heard Gerd has cancelled his vacation in Italy because of Don Berlusconi and now spends a few quiet days at home in Hannover. This is his story...
