Strange idea I got from a movie on Comedy Central. The character wished one woman would request "Best thing that ever happened to me."
I have never thought of it, although Madness's "One Step Beyond" should be in there.
Oh, do not criticisize other people's choices. After all, it is their funeral. (Sorry, I had to write that. [For those many that do not understand "" it means I'm smiling which usually means sarcasm and hence I'm not really sorry.])
At the beginning of the movie The Big Chill, the characters all go to the funeral of a friend who just committed suicide. He requested that they play the Rolling Stones', "You Can't Always Get What You Want" at his funeral. The song actually worked pretty well in that scene.
"Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd
*insert twisted laugh here*
"Ding, Dong, the Witch is Dead."
"Don't Fear the Reaper." Hey, Buck Dharma wants it at HIS funeral (and yes, Benn, I know what it's about)
"Goodbye My Friends" The Dave Clark Five
"Good Ridence" Green Day (maybe too obvious)
"Wiskey Bar" The Doors
"Yesterday" The Beatles
"The End" (now THAT is too obvious)
n.p. - The SIngles Collection - The Rolling Stones
Blitz, that Doors song is "The Alabama Song." `
Ahem:
"Alabama Song (Wiskey Bar)"
So I was only half wrong
Not really. It's Whiskey.
And yes, folks, your neighborhood cynic is anal!
Really? You don't say. Well, good to have that cleared up!
*groove*
Screw everything else; I want Terry Jacks's "Seasons in the Sun." Ahh, music to slit your wrists to.
Quote:Goodbye to you, my trusted friend
We've known each other since we were nine or ten
Together we've climbed hills and trees
Learned of love and ABC's
Skinned our hearts and skinned our knees
Goodbye, my friend, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that spring is in the air
Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and I'll be there
We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time
Goodbye, papa, please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
You tried to teach me right from wrong
Too much wine and too much song
Wonder how I got along
Goodbye, papa, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Little children everywhere
When you see them I'll be there
We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons have all gone
We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons have all gone
Goodbye, Michelle, my little one
You gave me love and helped me find the sun
And every time that I was down
You would always come around
And get my feet back on the ground
Goodbye, Michelle, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers everywhere
I wish that we could both be there
We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time
We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons have all gone
"Someone Saved My Life Tonight" by Elton John.
"(I Just Died) In Your Arms Tonight", Cutting Crew.
Piano Sonata in C Minor by Frederick Chopin (Funeral March)
"Who's sorry now?"
"Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life"
"So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehn, Goodbye" (from "The Sound Of Music")
"Bye" Elliott Smith.
Added somberness due to the fact that it was about the last track he released in his lifetime.
"He Was in Heaven Before He Died" by John Prine comes to mind. (...thinking a bit much of ourselves, are we?... )
I've heard a lot of Elliott Smith on the radio- gotta get some. need. more. disposable. income...
What do you guys think of that Terry Jacks song?
Music to slit your wrists to....
Since this is a board about nitpicking:
Rodney, that's "Auf Wiedersehen."
What do you guys think of that Terry Jacks song?
Music to slit your wrists to.... - Hannah
Hannah, consider yourself lucky that you weren't around when it was in 'radio saturation mode'. I've done my time- please don't make me think about it any longer!
Yep, MrPorter, along with "Sunshine (on my shoulder)"
"Man on the Moon," R.E.M. Definitely.
I'd also love to have something by Smokey Robinson, but "The Tears of a Clown" doesn't seem appropriate, does it?
Marilyn Manson, "Man that you Fear."

we're on the other side, the screen is us and we're t.v.
spread me open,
sticking to my pointy ribs
are all your infants in abortion cribs
I was born into this
everything turns to
the boy that you loved is the man that you fear
pray until your number,
asleep from all your pain,
your apple has been rotting
tomorrow's turned up dead
i have it all and i have no choice but to
i'll make everyone pay and you will see
you can kill yourself now
because you're dead
in my mind
the boy that you loved is the monster you fear
peel off all those eyes and crawl into the dark,
you've poisoned all of your children to camouflage your scars
pray unto the splinters, pray unto your fear
pray your life was just a dream
the cut that never heals
pray now baby, pray your life was just a dream
(I am so tangled in my sins that I cannot escape)
pinch the head off, collapse me like a weed
someone had to go this far
I was born into this
everything turns to
the boy that you loved is the man that you fear
peel off all those eyes and crawl into the dark,
you've poisoned all of your children to camouflage your scars
pray unto the splinters, pray unto your fear
pray your life was just a dream
the cut that never heals
pray now baby, pray your life was just a dream
the world in my hands, there's no one left to hear you scream
there's no one left for you
