A lot of people have been talking about this classic metal band over on the classic rock board, so I thought I'd create a spot for them here so those boards don't get bogged down and off track with those posts and all things DP related can be freely discussed here.

Thanks Todd.

Just read some interesting news that in the US DP are playing the entire "Machine Head" album as part of their shows and coupling that with large servings of their new album "Bananas". Whilst I, like many DP fans, relish the chance at hearing "Never Before" and "Maybe I'm A Leo" sitting alongside the rest of the rest of the album that is used, might it be construed as a bit of overkill? And also, many DP fans regard "In Rock" as a vastly superior album- so why not that one?

and BTW- "Bananas" is not bad at all. The title track is a little dopey but some of the stuff is just great. Don Airey is an inspired choice to replace Jon Lord.

And yes, apologies to Blitz and the team for my OT strayings on the other boards.

Hey, I'm the one who sparked the whole thing. Why appologize to me?

One Purple-related disc I've kind of been seeking out is Roger Glover's Butterfly Ball project from '74. I haven't had any luck finding a copy, though. I don't even know if this is currently in print. Is this any good, worth seeking out?

Hang on for a while Todd- according to Glover they are going to give it the old remaster spit and polish plus add some bonus tracks.

Well, they finally got around to remastering Burn, over five years after the WDWTWA remaster. I wonder if this means that Stormbringer and CTTB are soon on the way, as well?

There's a new Deep Purple bio out, called "Smoke On The Water: The Deep Purple Story" by one Dave Thompson. I've only had a chance to skim it, but it looks like a pretty well-written and comprehensive work. There's also the new two-DVD inside the music set by Classic Rock Productions.
