Seeing as how I like him, and that he's still pretty popular, and that he isn't on here yet, I would like to ask of all of you out there:
What do you think of him?
What do you think of his music?
And, what do you think about his family?
I hope that creating this topic shall encourage stimulating conversation. (But remember the NitCentral Rules O' Conduct!) Later now.
OK, if that's the way it's going to be, fine! I shall write something about him!
I, for one, like his hard-rocking songs, from "Crazy Train" to "See You On The Other Side", from "Bark At The Moon" to "Perry Mason", from "Miracle Man" to "Thunder Underground".
I bought "The Essential", which for some reason was lacking "Shot In The Dark", so I had to buy "The Ozzman Cometh" for that one. I also bought the "Prince Of Darkness" box set, and I really like the songs he did with other artists, especially "Pictures Of Matchstick Men" with Type O Negative, which was also on the "Private Parts" soundtrack.
The covers of "Mississippi Queen" and "For What It's Worth" are cool, too.
But, I must say that I doon't care for his wife or kids. It's the music that I care about, not the reality show!
And I hope he at least has one or two more albums still left in him yet! Bye for now!
And now there's "Black Rain", his new album, and it's pretty cool, seeing as how it's the first of his solo albums that he was actually sober while recording!
Well, stranger things have happened, right?
How about if he would pay Lee Kerslake and Bob daisley the money he rightfully owes them? That would be a stranger thing.
Who are they, and why does Ozzy owe them money?
They are Ozzy's former solo band members for Blizzard of Oz and Diary of a Madman. Ozzy refused to pay them royalties for their contributions (Daisley wrote many of the songs on both albums). In 2002, Ozzy outrageously re-released the two albums on CD format in bogus versions with re-recorded versions of thier drum and bass parts.
I see. That's too bad. I wonder, does that mean that you don't like Ozzy and won't listen to any of his solo albums?
I started this thread becasue I like his music. I was totally unaware that there was controversey concerning his former bandmates.
Oh well, live and learn, I suppose!
That means I respect Ozzy as far as his contributions to rock music but don't think much of him as an individual.
Actually, now that I recall, I created a disussion topic on this subject back in '02 when it was current. That can be found in the Music Catch Basin under "Ozzy sued by fromer bandmates". The link there is still active.
Well, aside from that previous controversy, Ozzy recently had a show with his family which was only on once, and was axed for good afterwards. It was a variety show of some kind, and it bombed miserably.
Whaddya think of that?
Also, I still really like his songs. His recent album did fairly well, I think.
And now he's doing ads for the video game World Of Warcraft. As far as I know, there are several in the series, but I have not played them.
In the ad, he said that "he's been the Prince of Darkness since 1979." In other words, he's ruled the Nether Realms for 30 years! That's cool!
Recently, Ozzy and Sharon guest-hosted for WWE Raw. They were OK, but Raw is a shell of it's former self.
Smackdown is ten times better, and they don't have celebrity hosts! That's good, I think.
Anyway, Ozzy and his family are still chuggin' right along, and that's cool with me!
If anyone is interested, Ozzy's new album "Scream" came out today. I will get it at some point.
Well, it took almost a year, but I finally picked up a used copy of "Scream". And it's pretty good. The "Let Me Hear You Scream" single was played on the radio this year, and I happened to get the 2-disc tour edition of the album, which had a few extra songs, plus some live tracks.
I've always liked Ozzy better solo than with Sabbath, and my favorite version of "Paranoid" is the live one Ozzy did with Randy Rhoads before his death.
It's weird - he has a funny way of talking, but I can understand his lyrics when he sings!
Poor Ozzy has Parkinson's Disease now.
