Well, I like them. What do you all think of them?

Yep, they are everso extrememly Canadian. They are my second-fave band from The Great White North, after Rush, of course!

"Hey Yeah, I wanna be a Rock Star!!!!"

I LOVE THAT SONG! And "Photograph", too!

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Thursday, October 04, 2007 - 11:30 pm:

I have four of their songs on iTunes: "Far Away", "Hero", "Photograph", and my favorite of theirs, "Someday".

Interestingly, when I clicked on iTunes right now to double-check this, "Far Away" was the next one up for play on my random play setting.

Rock Star is my favorite of their songs. I saw them in concert last spring. It was a good show but they didn't play Rock Star. The next day people were all over the radio station complaining about it. The next day they had to postpone their Atlanta show because one of the band members was sick. I'm guessing that Rock Star wasn't on the set list because they were going to use it as an encore. They only played one song in their encore, probably because the guy wasn't feeling well.

I also really dig 'Animals.' Really good song, I like that it's really sexual and dirty but it does it by being suggestive not vulgar.

Funny thing about Nickleback is that they are one of those bands where you take heat if you admit it to your hipster friends that you like them because they see them as too pop. But I'm not ashamed to admit that I like them.

Also, Chad Kroeger did many great songs with other artists, like "Hero" with Josey Scott for the first "Spider-Man", and two songs with Santana. I really like "Into The Night", it's sounds really great!

I really do wonder: when is Nickelback's next album coming out? I sure will get it when it does!

"Dark Horse" came out today!

I'm going to buy it tomorrow, hear it, and then I'll be back with comments!

And I liked it! It's about SEXXXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!

Ha ha ha ha ha!

The whole album has a great "let's get it on" vibe to it, and that's cool to me! Yeah!

It's too bad that the first track from Dark Horse, "Something In Your Mouth" will never be a single, cause I'd love to see the video to this excellent hard-rocking song.

The reason? Too sexually suggestive, I suppose.

Oh well!

Actually, it is now a single! Cool!

I have learned that there are people who absolutely HATE this band.

If anyone here does, tell me why. I would like to know. Enlighten me.

I still like their sound. The lead singer may be ugly as s***, and his voice isn't the greatest in the world, but along with Theory of a Dead Man, they are my favorite new Canadian groups.

Of course, Rush is my first favorite!

I like them a lot. I think that lots of people don't like them because they see them as too mainstream or too calculated. Mainstream and calculated is fine for a pop act but a rock act should be kind of outlaw. There first hits were melodramatic and kind of sappy. Of course after that they started getting dirtier with more classic rock inspired music and racier subject matter often referencing oral sex in their songs, which I'd imagine was a very calculated move as well. They also get accused of having a catalog of songs that all sound the same, which is a common accusation against groups with a distinctive sound; often happened to ZZ Top and AC/DC for the same reason.

Personally I like them, saw them in concert in south Florida a few years ago. Really like "Animals" and "Something in your Mouth" because they're sexual and suggestive without being raunchy.

Also, "Burn It To The Ground" is a cool track, and it does not sound like any other song by them.

That's my opinion, at least.

And, as you said, Brian, both AC/DC and ZZ Top's catalog of songs *do* start to sound alike if you play a dozen of them at random, one after the other.

That's interesting, I havd never realy noticed that before.

Anyway, Nickelback is either admired or loathed by the music-buying public. There is no middle ground, as far as I can tell!

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Sunday, June 10, 2012 - 9:19 pm:

It has become official: EVERYBODY hates this group now.

And it's gone so far as Canada being blamed as a whole for ever allowing them to have ever existed in the first place. (Some people still hold Alanis and Avril against them. I know I do.)

As far as I'm concerned, that's too bad. Because apparently no one ever had a problem with pathetic no-talent hacks like Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Bros, Justin Beeber, or One Direction becoming famous and incredibly wealthy with their mind-numbing god-awful excuses for "pop music"!

Or did they? I wouldn't know.

The point is that the world is chock full of truly terrible bands and supposed "singers". So why would these guys be more deserving of the world's resentment and animosity towards them than any OTHER performer who continue cranking out substandard schlock?!

I say they're not. So give it a rest with the hating already!

Have I made my point yet? I sure hope so!
