Their new album comes out today.

And I will buy it soon.

They are truly one of the great REAL ACTUAL OFFICIAL rock groups that actually still exist today.

At least I think so.

WIll anyone else discuss them?

I'll probably pick this up eventually. But really, to me, U2 has already done their best work. Achtung, Baby may have been their last great album.

np - "Help Me Love" - Isaac Hayes (While in Memphis, TN, I bought Hayes' Black Moses CD at Stax Records.)

You are right, Benn. I agree with you.

Amazing, isn't it? I've been bashing you on other boards for a week, and now I come back to this board and see an old message, and I agree with what you said!

As I see it, there's THE BAND, and then there's THE ALBUMS. THE BAND has always been as good as their best album, maybe better. But as many of you know, many of THE ALBUMS are very mediocre, and, by themselves, cannot compare with the legacy that U2 has left in this world.

Achtung was the first album I had from the Irish quartet, and I really enjoyed it. I also liked the Sweetest Thing track from the first Best Of, and it was when I bought it that I heard all the great classic U2 songs. They were never really as good again as they were in the '80's.

Anyway, their new album has a great single, and I'm glad that one is the one they made a single. Almost all of the songs from the CD are forgettable!

The first U2 album I got was The Unforgettable Fire. It's still one of my favorites by the band. I love the sound and atmosphere of it. War is my second favorite. Then Boy, The Joshua Tree, Acthung, Baby and Zooropa. I still haven't gotten the current one yet. Need to, though.
