Recorded at the Broadhurst Theater in New York City at the height of his popularity, Seinfeld delivers a satisfying comedy performance. For the most part, that is. The material about cab drivers could be considered slightly offensive, as he says they all smell bad, drive erratically, and all "have names that have eight consonants in a row", plus he makes fun of the letter from the Scandinavian alphabet "O with the line through it" and says that he didn't remember that letter in school. Obviously, most Americans are not aware of letters in other languages, but Seinfeld sounds particularly ignorant in this observation.

And then we come to the bit about airport security and flying in general. What else can be said about it, other than the fact that it's extremely outdated? George Carlin would also speak at length about the supposed needlessness of the security at airports, however he went about it in a real profanity-laced and mean-spirited way. Both routines were delivered before 9/11.

It was said that Seinfeld turned down the offer from NBC to do a tenth season of his show. That was OK for him, as his fortune was secure at that point, but the other three castmembers have been cursed to sell out and hawk various products and do incredibly mediocre sitcoms. I'll bet they were real happy with Jerry about that, let me tell you.

Seinfeld has since had a family, released a children's book based on the Halloween portion of his act, and executive produced and performed the voice of the lead character in an animated movie released by Dreamworks. He didn't really need to do it, but I suppose he wanted to keep busy somehow. Also, he co-created "The Marriage Ref" for NBC, a show which I never saw but according to it's reviews, was not worth bothering with.

Today I watched "The Blood", one of my overall favorite Seinfeld episodes. I think I like the show as a whole better than his real-life act!

One other thing: Jerry released an HBO special called "Live On Broadway" which was a different performance than the one on the CD. Before it, there was a short sketch about laying his jokes to rest in a grave and other noted comedians coming and paying their respects. That was mildly amusing, I guess!
