Seal (Henry Samuel)

I have been a fan of Seal's music for almost 20 years, ever since he debuted his first album in the summer of 1991 with the hit single "Crazy". That was my favorite song for a long time, and I only learned a few years later that the version of it that played on the radio was an edited version, not the complete version from the album. At the time I was buying cassette singles and not whole albums, but a few years later I would start getting them.

His first CD was self-titled, so was his second. Then he released "Human Being", his least-successful album to date, it did not have any hit singles and he blamed Warner Brothers for the way they marketed and promoted it. A few years later he released "Seal IV", which was a totally new group of songs that he recorded after he decided to scrap an album which would have been titled "Togetherland". Afterwards came a Live In Paris CD/DVD, and a Best Of collection with two new tracks. He then went back to his roots with "System", one of his best in my opinion, and then he did a covers CD, "Soul". Then it was time for another "Hits" compilation, which, like the first one, had two new tracks. He then released his sixth album, "Commitment" in 2010, and late last year, his most recent album came out, a second "Soul" covers collection.

Over the years he has also contributed numerous songs to movie soundtracks, like "Kiss From A Rose" and his cover of Steve Miller's "Fly Like An Eagle". Some of the songs have not been released on his regular albums, such as "Out Of The Window", "This Could Be Heaven" and "A Father's Way", and are only available on the soundtrack albums.

I have bought every one of his albums as they have been released, as he is one of my very favorite British singer/songwriters. He is currently in the news as he and German model Heidi Klum are currently separated, the couple has three children plus one from Klum's previous relationship. It has been said that Seal has a bad temper and that is one of the main reasons for their breakup, according to Heidi. I have never heard anything about this before, all through the years of his releasing excellent albums I was not aware that was a part of his personality. Also, he has scarring on his face from when he was suffering from lupus, and he's had them for his entire career. He had a full head of dreadlocked hair during the release of his first album in 1991, and three years later he had shaved bald for his second one. He has been bald ever since. I don't care about his unusual appearance, I still really like his music, as I think he has one of the best voices of any solo rock singer I've ever heard.

Anyway, that was my take on Seal and his career. I dont really concern myself with his personal life, and I do wonder why some people have to critizize his looks, as he could not help having the facial scarring because of having lupus before he started out in the music industry. He is one of my favorites, and I just wanted to talk about him for a little bit.
