Now You See It, Now You Don't

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Digimon: Digital Monsters: Season Three: Now You See It, Now You Don't
The two girls working for the government project inside those two towers detect a "level of bioemergence [they] have never seen before."

Meanwhile, Rika ponders why Kyubimon (who is still in her champion form, sleeping) risked her life to save Rika.

Takato goes to visit Guilmon, who reveals he was dreaming. Takato finds this weird, never heard of a Digimon dreaming. Just then, part of Guilmon suddenly becomes partly invisible for a while and then becomes whole again. He talks about this with Henry, who wonders if Digimon can't stay in the real world for an extended period of time. This upsets Takato.

Meanwhile, Yamaki receives a report about strange readings and one of the researches need him. The guy is annoyed and says he will get there shortly.

In class, Takato can't stop thinking about Guilmon. After school, he finds Calumon playing with Guilmon. Takato asks Calumon if he's ever lonely, but Calumon is in no mood for serious talk and calls Takato silly and leaves.

Back at the government towers, the Yamaki explains the situation again. How all the computer systems in the world, the internet, the stock exchange, etc...has created an alternate plane, a Digital one...And Hypnos' job is to moniter this plane and moniters the exchange of information. He tells his researcher he has everything under control, but the researcher doesn't believe him. He orders the guy to prevent more bioemergences and to eliminate those who have already.

Takato and Guilmon run into Renamon and Rika. Rika wonders why Takato keeps following her around. After a short discussion, he goes to her home and Takato tries to get information on Digimon from her, but she isn't every cooperative.

After they leave, Guilmon suddenly vanishes, causing Takato great sorrow. With the help of Henry and a reluctant Rika, they find Guilmon in a strange energy field. They manage to rescue him before the field vanishes.

Back at the towers, the government guy claims all the bioemergents have been eliminated.

Well, I liked this episode. I like how the three are starting to act like a team. Also, it was nice to learn more about the story this season as we learned more about Hypnos and the 'Digital Plane' in this reality.

When told he had to explain this to one of the researchers, I got the impression that the researcher was an underling of Lighter Guy, but in the scene he came off more like Lighter Guy's superior.

The explanation of the Digital Plane reminded me of a Justice League of America villain (Construct?) who was created by the interaction of electronic information. (Written back in the 70's, before the personal computer revolution.)

Takato's parents... boy, they're really in the running for winning the Best Parents of the Year award.

Yeah, I was a little confused by that too. Maybe he was sent by Lighter Guy's superiers to "research" just what Hypnos was doing?
