Juggernaut

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Digimon: Digital Monsters: Season Three: Juggernaut
Takato and Guilmon battle a Digimon and win. But then, Yamaki comes in with some Hypnos guys and takes the Digimon with him. He also threatens to take Guilmon, but doesn't.

Hypnos work on project Juggernaut, apparently something that will take care of the Digimon problems.

Impmon confronts Calumon and informs him of his plan to defeat Calumon and absorb his data.

Hypnos activates project Juggernaut. This causes some weird effects. Guilmon senses something big is about to happen...He senses a huge Digimon....

Takato says that defeating Blacklizardmon was tough. shame we didn't get to see the fight. (TV Exec: Don't bore the viewers with exciting battles. Just have them mention how tough they were, instead.)
And if it was so tough, shouldn't there have been more damage to the building?

We also learn that years earlier Henry was part of a project that created living digital creatures. (I wonder if Calumon was the special friend that Yamaki mentioned?) However it's implied that the first Digimon were created by Henry's dad & others, but the commercials for the upcoming saga say the Devas (?) were an ancient group of Digimon warriors. Ummm, ancient as in preceeding the 'real' world's creation of living Digimon???

And finally, Yay! A saga! Hopefully a good reason to keep watching. So far Season 3 has not lived up to Season 1 or 2 yet.

Rene, Guilmon & Terriermon sensed something coming (& calling.)

By Rene on Sunday, October 21, 2001 - 11:59 am:

Apparently, they are taking their time because the Tamers story is supposed to be more than one season. (Just a rumor at this point, but apparently Toei hasn't announced how many episodes Tamers is supposed to last, unlike the previous two seasons).

I have trouble buying that they'd really take a complex, experimental life form and turn it into a keychain toy.

Oh, and just what about Tamers isn't living up tp 01/02? I think that it's greatly surpassing its predicesor by trying to be more realistic (but then, that's just me)

Hey! I thought you had vanished off the face of the planet :)

In my opinion, it's definitely off to a better start than season 2 and 1. But I can see where his opinion is coming from, since the story so far hasn't had any real opponent for the Tamers.

By this time in season 1, the kids had already defeated Devimon and were getting close to defeating Etemon.

I think Season 1 had the best start & Season 2 the second best.
I just find Takato & Henry to be boring characters.
S1 had 7 Human characters, if 2 were boring they didn't stand out as much because there were 5 others to carry the load.
Also I'm just not a big fan of Fantasy/SF series that try to exist in 'the REAL world'. I just don't think it's very real to have monsters fighting it out & the majority of people not realizing, or noticing, it.
Hopefully after the events of Grow Mon Grow the general public in the show will realize SOMETHING is going on.

Sorry I vanished AGAIN, it couldn't be helped. Technical dificulties and the like.

Anyway, I admit that this is entierly a matter of oppinion, but since when has that ever stoped anyone on this board? ;) I admit that 01 and (to a lesser extent) 02 moved quicker than Tamers, but I think that's a good thing. It always struck me as pretty unrealistic that the Digidestined could just figgure out what was going on and mow their way through baddies as quickly as they did. I mean, imagine yourself in the shoes of one of our heroes. Could YOU go from an average joe to Digidestine hero overnight? Probobly not; I know I couldn't. The fact that Takato, Hennry, and (especially) Rika are having so much trouble getting their act together is far more realistic.

Also, I never really understood why there just "happened" to be so many bad guy Digimon just layng around waiting for their turn to be beaten (Well, sort of. Bear with me). It seems a lot easier to swallow if there's only a few evil faces to deal with.

As for the general public not realizing something's going on, do we really know that they don't? Tamers focuses on kids; kids who rarely watch the news. The media could have been picking up on what Hypnos (that's their name, right?) couldn't cover up already but we'd never know because the show only depicts the kids and what they do. (right?)

The Digimon known as Blitz has bioemerged from the Digital Field again.

By KAM on Thursday, November 15, 2001 - 4:46 am:

It seemed to me that the kids in S1 didn't know what was going on for a while. They weren't sure where they were or what was going on.

As for the bad guys, I believe that Devimon was on File Island, while Etemon wasn't encountered until they went to the Server Continent (?). Possibly Devimon, Etemon & Myotismon didn't realize that the Digidestined really were the Digidestined until they actually encountered them.

The only thing that strains credulity is the Dark Masters.
Piedmon was shown to have attacked the place where Genii & the others were building the Digivices & Crests, so he at least should have been keeping an eye out for anyone who could be the digidestined.
Also if 2 or 3 of the Dark Masters had teamed up instead of letting the DD kill them off one by one.

Also I believe S1 & 2 did use the occasional TV broadcast to let people know that something was going on. And Season 3 does seem to focus on adults more than 1 & 2, so a few words of dialogue would let us know what the GP does or doesn't know about Digimon & Hypnos.

By Blitz on Thursday, November 15, 2001 - 6:35 pm:

I agree that the 01 DDs didn't know all the details for a while, but the sure grasped the concept of being a team and batteling and all that stuff "Digidestined" are supposed to do suprisingly quickly. I like seeing how the Tamers are constantly insisting on their own way of doing things (Rika not wanting to work with the others, Henry not letting Terriermon fight, ect.); it's a much more believable way for people to behave.

As for the TV think, I do remember the news brodcasts that occasionally poped up (they used one as the closing monolouge for one episode as I recall). It's just that 03 hasn't actually shown any yet. Your right about the adults though. I would think that, after a while, most parents (even those deadbeats Takato lives with) would try to keep their kids at home more than they seem to be doing here.
