Grow Mon Grow

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Digimon: Digital Monsters: Season Three: Grow Mon Grow
Yamaki's program opens a portal into the Digital World and all the Digimon start getting sucked in. But things backfire when a powerful Ultimate Digimon is unleashed in the real world.

A digital field forms. The Tamers and their Digimon enter the field. Takato hands Rika a digivolution card and she uses it to make Renamon digivolve. But the evil Digimon too strong for her and she reverts to Renamon.

Henry then uses the card to make Terriermon digivolve. But again, Gargomon is no match for this powerful Digimon. He reverts back to Terriermon.

A hesitant Takato makes Guilmon digivolve to Growlmon. Takato's friends notice the fight. As Growlmon weakens, Takato faints. In his "sleep", he and Growlmon talk and Takato becomes resolved not to give up. He wakes up and finds Calumon infront of him.

The blue card appears infront of Takato and he uses it to make Growlmon digivolve to Wargrowlmon. Wargrowlmon defeats the powerful Digimon.

Takato's friends cheer.

What an episode! I didn't expect to see Growlmon's ultimate form of WarGrowlmon
so soon, but his "matrix digivolution" was great. And if I am not mistaken, it
certainly sounds like Bob Pappenbrook voiced today's evil Digimon.

Though I have to wonder : Where the heck did that digivolution card come from
and why didn't they use it before? And where did Impmon go off to? Wasn't he
chasing Calumon?

But other than that...awesome episode. Can't wait to see the next one tomorrow
:)

Mihiramon says something like Samurai Tail Strike. I didn't know Samurai had tails.

Boy, that 'Tamer feels the blows' aspect is a real bummer. I wonder how many kids would want to be Tamers when they heard about that?

Not sure what episode this should go in, but since the first Deva appears here I'll put it here. In the previews for the Deva Saga it mentions that there is a Sanscrit legend about the warriers & Deva sounds like an Indian (India) word, however the commercials also say that the Deva are based on the Chinese zodiac. Why not the Indian Zodiac?

From what I heard, the 12 Devas are, in real life, based on the Chinese Zodiac.

Real life Devas? You mean like Pattie Labelle, Whitney Houston, & Dianna Ross? (Now there are some frightening adversaries for the series. )
I did try looking up Deva in some of my mythology books, but the closest I could find was Devi which didn't seem to be related. What do you know of 'real life' Devas?

I heard from someone it's based on the Chinese Zodiac.

According to my World Religions book, "Devas" (or "Daevas") are indeed a part of very early (as in pre-Hindu) Indian mythology that was carried over by Iranian immigrants called the Aryans (no connection to Hitler and the Nazis). However, there’s no zodiac connection as seen in here.
