Lionheart

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Digimon: Digital Monsters: Season Three: Lionheart
Calumon is locked in a pit at the center of the land of the Sovereign, a place that feels strangely familiar to him. Once, he was the light that allowed the Soverign to digivolve and now they want him to give them his power again. Lopemon tells Henry and Takato where Calumon was taken, though she’s not very exited at the thought of fighting the Sovereign. Meanwhile, the rest of the Tamers continue to search for their companions. Jeri starts to feel unworthy as Growlmon, Kyubimon and Leomon reflect on how they became partners with their Tamers, but Leomon assures her that she has the heart of a lion and that’s what matters. Back at the land of the Sovereign, Beelzemon appears with a bang and makes short work out of Rapidmon. Guilmon and Jeri hear Takato through a data stream and leap to his aid, Beelzemon continues to rout his former friends. Leomon tries to talk sense into him, but Beelzemon mercilessly kills him, much to Jeri’s dismay. Enraged, Takato orders Growlmon to digivolve to mega, resulting in one terrifying creature and massive disruptions in both the Digital World and this one. As his Digivice cracks and shatters, a shocked Takato wonders what he’s done…

How the heck did Guilmon become Growlmon without Takato?

I was wondering that myself. Drove me crazy trying to remember what he looked like in the last episode he appeared in.

I don't think Guilmon was even in the last episode...

I don't think he was in the previous 2 eps, that's why it drove me crazy trying to remember. Maybe the writers forgot as well?

Hmmm... guess it never happened, huh? I'll see if I can throw a synopsis together next time ABC Family shows this one.

So, how did Guilemon become Growlmon without Takato? In fact, what has Guilmon been up to these past few episodes, anyway?

Continuing the note above, Growlmon digivolves to Ultimate without any Digivolving sequence. Suddenly, he’s just there. (I suspect the continuity guy was stuck in a digital field when this episode was done)

Another sign that Takato’s not as serious a Digimon fan as he would have us all believe. Doesn’t he remember Skullgreymon? He should know that anger and forced Digivolution only lead bad places.

There is a flash in place of the digivolve sequence. Maybe the lack of a sequence was foresaddowing that something was different/wrong

He's alredy angry at this time. I tend to forget things when I get upset too.

I believe Takato glowed red before Growlmon digvolved to ultimate. Of course, why did that digivolution work, since it was caused by Takato's anger? Shouldn't he have digivolved into a different Ultimate-level Digimon?

Isn't that what caused Megidramon's existance? That Takato's anger caused him to digivolve to a flawed form.
