Clone Wars (2003)

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Star Wars: TV: Clone Wars (2003)
Animated series about the Clone Wars. Set between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
By MarkN on Thursday, November 14, 2002 - 10:26 pm:

AICN and TheForce.Net both report, and confirm, on a new animated series that LucasArts is planning with the Cartoon Network and that'll take place in between Episodes 2 and 3 to fill in the story of what happens during the Clone Wars.

What also blows me away is that TheForce.Net reports on some Wal-Marts, Toys R Us and CompUSA's selling ATOC DVDs for under $10 for I guess the first two days of release. Had I known that I'd've bought it there instead of at work!

I hope it will be better than "Droids" and "Ewoks." I mean, I loved them, but I was little then.

Just tell "Filmation" to stay FAR, FAR, AWAY from this project! I HATED the Filmation cartoons! I can't think of one that was drawn well.

I'm not bad, I was just drawn that way.

What about "BraveStarr"?

By John A. Lang on Sunday, December 01, 2002 - 1:04 pm:

OK...there were a FEW exceptions..I think "He-Man" & "She Ra" was done by Filamation too. Those were good. I guess I was focusing on those others too hard.

Vol. 1 of this cartoon is now on DVD. Great stuff!

This series rocks.

Agreed. Especially anything with Mace.

I don't know where else to put this, and I don't want to create another topic.

I read somewhere about a novel being released post-Return of the Jedi that had a Darth Vader clone. Is this true? And in which novel and how does Chewbacca die?

To stay reasonably enough on-topic, here's a question: what's up with General Grievous's coughing? Is he really..."some g**•••• machine! Cybernetic organism. Whatever!" LOL (:

SPOILER WARNINGS

The Dark Empire comic series featured a resurrected Emperor in several clone bodies. I don't think that Vader (or Anakin) ever came back to life though.

And I believe that Chewie dies in Vector Prime. I don't know how he dies, but you could go to the Star Wars Novels board. They might be there.

Re:Post Jedi Cloned Characters
Luke was cloned though, in Heir to the Empire:The Last Command.
The source material for the Clone, Luuke, was Luke's hand, which was recovered post
Empire Strikes Back from Cloud City for later use by the Emperor...
Naturally, during the events of Last Command, Luke has to fight his clone...

Re:This sub forum's title
As there is reported to be a third series of the Clone Wars cartoon in production, covering
post Revenge of The Sith events,
should this forums's title be changed to read just Star Wars: The Clone Wars...?

I saw an interview with George Lucas a few weeks ago, and I believe he said the upcoming cartoon would feature characters like Luke, Han, and Leia, and the live action series would star a minor character from the movies and it would be set between Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars.

Now, of the cartoon, he also said in the same breath that it was a continuation of Clone Wars, but since he followed it up with the info about the OT characters, I assumed by that he just meant it would be somewhat similar in style.

I mean they couldn't really do any more with the Clone Wars anyway, as ROTS immediately follows the events of the final episode, and the Clone Wars end during ROTS. Ended, the Clone War has.

Re:last comment
Clone Wars: Season/Series 3 is going to be a CGI Animated series, according to current information.
Lucasfilm is opening up a CGI rednering facility in Singapore, reportedly for this series...
As Peter Chung's been involved in discussions with Lucasfilm for the post of Head Animator at this facility, it's quite likely, stylistically to be closer to Aeon Flux than Samurai Jack....
As for the Live Action series, they're currently talking of producing 100 episodes, to be shown over 5 years...

Not a bad series, though the Jedi and Sith seem to be a bit overzealous with their abilities (or perhaps they were underutilized in the movies). In volume 1 Durge(?) leads a group of IG Lancers I believe they're called, which are IG series droids on a version of speeder bikes with somekinda advanced lances, in to destroy the Republic's armored vehicles. The problem here is that during this scene these speeders are going full speed into the walkers and the lances simply stab through the armor and then explode. It's an interesting idea but extremely lame, even for SW.

Another cool scene is in that Jedi temple where we get to see where nights and padawans obtain their lightsaber crystal. I don't recall the name of the planet, nor the two Jedi inside, but the temple is attacked by a group of droids who have what seems to be personal cloaking devices. In ESB when Captain Needa(?) looses the Millinium Falcon he claims "no ship that small has a cloaking device." If the MF is too small for one how can these droids have them, and why don't more droids have them?

Yes I realize this is a cartoon but IMO it would've been better to make something that could transition a bit easier to and from the movies. Loved those ARC trooper hand signals and Mace kicked a lot of A! I'm also looking forward to the two new series coming soon.
