Is this series worth watching ? Do we think it is as good as the live action Star Wars films ?
Yes and very yes.
It has a blend of western and samurai - actively choosing to go back and be influenced by the styles and genres that influenced the Original Trilogy, rather than repeat the films (looking at you 'Yet another Death Star') and proves you don't need Skywalkers, Solos or Palpatines to be a really good Star Wars story. I personally gave up on the sequels, and haven't watched the animated series
- some of the more popular characters from them either make appearances or are referenced, but you don't need to have seen them to follow the plot.
The cutting-edge computer technology they use to film in what is almost a holodeck is amazing, and makes this show feel very cinematic and on a huge scale, but they also have good practical effects, too. Particularly, the decision to mainly use a puppet for The Child (when they saw how good it was) and on the few occasions they CGI him, they stick to natural/puppet like movements that really give you that classic Henson feel. All of which you'll soon forget, because everything from the aliens to the ships, to the sets looks so real.
I'm really impressed and really enoying this series. Season 1 was was pretty good, but season 2 has more Star Wars stuff (X-wings, Tie fighters, Sand People, Jawas), and I agree with M Crane. Despite the lack of Luke and Han and Leia, this feels like the Star Wars universe.
Both seasons are 8 episodes long, and I've finished episode 4 of the second season. Pretty soon I'll be like other viewers-- going through Mandalorian withdrawl, but I'll definitely be re-watching these in the future.
I'm not even a big Star Wars fan and I would highly recommend this series.
Shouldn't this be in the Star Wars section?
I agree. Now we just need to get the Moderator's attention.
Hey! HEEEEEYYYY!!!! Over hereeee!
We'd need a Roving Mod to move it since I don't mod the Star Wars section.

Thank you, Tim. :-)
May the Force be with you, Tim!
(Hey, somebody had to say it!)
And Also With You
In "The Siege", an X-Wing pilot asks Cara Dune where's she's from. She says, "Alderaan". He then asks, "Did you lose anybody?"
Hey, dude, get some TACT! Even if she didn't lose anyone, she lost her ENTIRE PLANET!
