LICC Archive Discussion 3-D

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: L.I.C.C.: League of Intergalactic Cosmic Champions III: The Discussion: LICC Archive Discussion 3-D
By Brian Webber on Wednesday, December 05, 2001 - 9:14 pm:

Hey, I noticed that at the archive site that the post Whyte Kastle storylines don't have titles yet.

Can I make up the titles can I? Just sned me summaries of each plotline and I can come up with titles, I'm really good at maing up titles. I'm not too good with stories but I'm GREAT with titles. Can I, can I, can I? PLEASE????????????

By Kira Sharp on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 12:21 pm:

Sure. Why not? Send 'em to thelicc@yahoo.com. But keep in mind that we at thelicc admin have been really short on time for months uncounted and may not put your titles up for a while.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 12:35 pm:

Cool. All I need is the Summaries. Oh wait, they're already up at the site right?

By Padawan Observer on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 1:50 pm:

Nope.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 2:40 pm:

Oh. Well could they be sent to my e-mail address? I'm sure you already have it Paddy. My job hunt takes up a lot of my time so I can't really read all the chapters to put together summaries of my own. Speaking of which, someone on Monster.com just checked my resum.e I'm gonna see who it is.

By Padawan Observer on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 2:50 pm:

I'll need to write them myself, but... OK.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 3:08 pm:

Cool. Oh, and it turns out the company that looked at my resume is in California. I'm not able to relocate for a job, so I had to turn it down. :(

By Padawan Observer on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 3:09 pm:

You could always rent a room in JD's house.

By JD on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 3:33 pm:

Wish we had an extra one. Wanna sleep in the crawlspace-attic?

By Brian Webber on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 8:46 pm:

Hell no!

By Brian Webber on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 8:58 pm:

I have a title for the current storyline!

An Odd Oblivion

By KAM on Friday, December 07, 2001 - 4:11 am:

Yuck.

By KAM on Friday, December 07, 2001 - 4:36 am:

The Big Mistake seems appropriate, though. Maybe even When You Get To Pattie's Post Just Skip To Board 2.

It's a bit overused, but Double Trouble would work.

By Kira Sharp on Friday, December 07, 2001 - 7:57 am:

Oh, snap out of it! Honestly, KAM, you're starting to sound like a Yiddish mother-in-law. Sheez, now I can't even *ask* about your storylines without sending you into a funk of grey despair.

round up everyone and has them sing, "KAM, we don't hate you or your stories or your characters or everything else you do in the L.I.C.C. You are safe. You are loved. No one is trying to run you off the board."

Brian Webber, sniggering at the irony, adds, "Kira is not the agent of a vast conspiracy designed to mess up your plans, screw up your career, and kidnap you on the night of the next Nittys."

Also, perhaps we should wait to title the current adventure until we see how it ends.

By Paranoid Conspiracy Theorist on Friday, December 07, 2001 - 9:18 am:

"Kira is not the agent of a vast conspiracy designed to mess up your plans, screw up your career, and kidnap you on the night of the next Nittys."

Sure... that's just what THEY want you to think!

By Paranoid Conspiracy Chief on Friday, December 07, 2001 - 9:21 am:

I see you!

By KAM on Saturday, December 08, 2001 - 3:22 am:

sending you into a funk of grey despair.
No need to send me. I've been living there for years. ;-)

No one is trying to run you off the board.
Never said anyone was. I may get upset by something someone says or does, but it's MY decision whether to stay or go.

Kira is not the agent of a vast conspiracy designed to mess up your plans, screw up your career
Of course not. That conspiracy started before Kira was even born. ;-)

The truth is I thought it might be interesting to see the LICC go up against themselves, but when I was answering your questions & concerns I realized just how poorly thought out this idea was.

And frankly I don't really see how a hard to understand idea can in any way be considered good.

I put more thought into answering your questions about it than I did into the workability of the idea.

The more I thought about it the worse I thought it was. It's worse than the Crystal Quest & Hela combined. If I were Moderator I probably would have made all the posts related to it vanish without a trace.

Maybe there is something in it that is salvagable, but personally, I think we should just end it, sweep it under the rug, pretend it never happened, and move on.

By Padawan Observer on Saturday, December 08, 2001 - 3:50 am:

Well... since we are trying to be more like we used to, it should be over in a week or so anyway.

By Padawan Observer on Saturday, December 08, 2001 - 4:55 am:

KAM, I think your stories are very well conceived. If there's a problem with them it's the execution. I've thought about it, and I think this is it: You write your storylines about your characters, and don't involve the others. This encourages the other authors to give your posts the "someone else's problem" treatment.

Also, you said that you have trouble expressing yourself and being clear. I guess you do, and it doesn't do justice to your vast imagination, meaning that sometimes your posts can be brilliantly thought out, but completely incomprehensable.

I think I have the same problem - my plot concepts are good but the execution is not. (Except for X, that was a bad idea to start off with. I didn't really understand LICC then) TAM, for instance, started out as someone who was half-in and half-out of the story, and sould act as everything from a prophet of doom to a side commenter. However, in time he became simply a nuisance, threatening to break the rules simply to get attention. He was supposed to be someone who would drop by every so often, who everyone would "love to hate" and whose allegiences were never really clear. (I think I managed to do that with Enesku) However, that didn't exactly come to pass. I think that I made him too confusing, instead of mysterious. The others seemed to be thinking "I don't understand this, the author isn't being clear enough" instead of "I don't understand this, looks like the LICC have a mystery." He would have probably have worked better in earlier days, before the authors needed everything spelled out in front of their faces on the discussion board.

If anyone really wants to know, I'll explain the TAM concept later.

Also, KAM and I seem to be the only posters who remember what has happened on previous boards. We both should include more footnotes. For instance:

Enesku* enters the bridge

Hi**, I'm back!

*from LICC2 Part whatever
**Enesku left in LICC2 Part whatever

You did that when Soyburger returned to the LICC, but I don't remember you doing it other times. If you explain what your talking about by including references to when it was first mentioned, the other authors can look back if they don't remember, and understand more clearly.

Both your problems came out in the Crystal Quest. It started with a solo adventure for Old DC Fan, which the others probably ignored at the time, because they all had to concentrate on their own solo adventures. By the time it actually went underway, everyone had probably forgotten how it started and didn't know how to find out.

I'm not saying that these are purely your own faults. If the other author's read and remembered KAM's posts as they came, these problems would be much smaller, if they even existed. But many posters have more important things to concern themselves with. I also have some sort of aversion to Ojanon's and Kieahrt's posts. It's not that they aren't clear, I don't think, but very often even after I've read them through I have no idea what they're talking about. If the LICC were plunged into a storyline about Kiehart's past as Logan Newcastle, I wouldn't know what was happening, and I wouldn't know how to look back to all the previous posts about LN to make some sense out of it.

By Brian Webber on Saturday, December 08, 2001 - 3:03 pm:

I've sent the titles! I've sent the titles!

(One if by land, two if by e-mail)

By Kira Sharp on Saturday, December 08, 2001 - 7:18 pm:

Who is posting as Tacquitoboy and why are they using the correct spelling?

By Tacquitoboys Author on Saturday, December 08, 2001 - 7:30 pm:

Saw that, did you? Oh well, I couldn't think of everything.

By Padawan Observer on Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 2:09 am:

What is all this doing on the Archive discussion? BTW, Brian moving in with JD would make an amusing sitcom.

By KAM on Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 2:40 am:

It's called Thread Drift, Padawan. I was answering some comments Kira made in this discussion.

I'm sorry I made you all suffer through my little tirade. When I do this in real life I'm usually considerate enough to leave the room when people are present and I have to remember to not post when upset or angry. I'm sorry.
I'll try to keep my mouth shut, see what other posters come up with on this storyline, and maybe post something more in line with whatever direction it takes.
Again, I'm sorry.

By Padawan Observer on Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 2:50 am:

GET OVER YOURSELF!

slaps KAM about the head

And come to Reddochat.

By Padawan Observer on Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 3:10 am:

Is this where we can discuss the "LICC Fiction" that's up on the site?

By KAM on Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 3:52 am:

That should probably be a different thread as I believe this is supposed to be more general about the site.

Do you have a aspirin?

By Padawan Observer on Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 3:54 am:

Nah, my head's fine.

By KAM on Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 3:59 am:

Oh, good, because I'm seeing stars.

Raquel Welch, John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart...

By Quantum Mans Author on Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 1:21 pm:

It's called Thread Drift, Padawan.

An obvious consequence of Heisenberg's Nitpicking Uncertainty Principle

By KAM on Thursday, July 04, 2002 - 5:51 am:

So why did people stop using this board to discuss the Archive when it was only 31k?

Did somebody suffer from premature board creation?

By ACME Commercial on Thursday, July 04, 2002 - 12:18 pm:

Do you.... create boards early?
Are you embarrassed during nitpicking?
Well, ACME can help you. Yes, ACME can help you with premature board creation.

Never worry about nitpicking again!

By JD (Jdominguez) on Thursday, July 04, 2002 - 2:17 pm:

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!

Paddy has written a new piece of fiction, and after one read-through, I think EVERYONE should take a look. I can't praise it enough, but make your own opinions. :-D

By KAM on Friday, July 05, 2002 - 4:00 am:

Well, finally got around to doing some more bios. Hopefully I can get some more finished in the next few days.

Name: Hamburger Pattie
Real Name: Suzy Wood
Homeworld: Earth in JARSO dimension
Powers: Multiple entendres, bulletproof skin, split into two, gymnastic abilities, dramatic entrances & exits, some witchcraft
Equipment: One hell of a body ;-)
Rank: Unranked
Position: Occasionally manned Communications
Biography: Shy, modest, Suzy Wood, was working as a lab assistant in Port Mike when an accident with a time machine doubled her on her personal timeline and exposed her to Sub-Reality which she used to make herself bulletproof, enhance her bustline & gave her magical powers. Meeting with local heroes, Hamburgermeister & Burger Boy, inspired her to become a superheroine. Her first big mission came when Tacoman requested help to fight his nemesis Burrittoman in the Phantom Returns dimension. She became a member of LICC shortly after it formed.
Returning to JARSO after the KILL adventure, Pattie & the other heroes of Port Mike fought a final battle with the forces of evil to save the world. Good won, but all superpowers were lost & the dimensional barriers were sealed.
Author: Keith Alan Morgan

Surprising to me, there is a board for LICC Small as a group. Since I created 3 of the group I wrote two bios & started one (PikaQ).

JD & Electron! You got some bios to write!

Name PikaQ
Powers: The powers of Q & Pikachu combined
Biography: An ordinary pikachu accidentally endowed with the powers of Q by Ensign Brain trying to steal them for himself. While the Q Continuum doesn't regard him as a true Q they haven't taken away his powers yet.

Jake & Electron can fill in the rest
Authors: Keith Alan Morgan, Jake Dominguez, Electron

Name Ensign Tai
Equipment: Digivice (which allows Redshirtmon to digivolve to Deadmon), the Crest of Kicking Evil's Butt (combined with Digivice allows Deadmon to digivolve to Poltergeistmon)
Rank: Ensign
Biography: An ordinary blueshirt changed by an Anime plot twist into a spiky haired partner of a Digimon. Remained as he had become thanks to the sorcerer Xlix casting a spell preserving the change. Joined LICC Small afterwards.
Author: Keith Alan Morgan

Name: Redshirtmon/Deadmon/Poltergeistmon
Character Description: As Redshirtmon he is a Rookie level digimon who looks like a tiny tyrannosaur wearing a redshirt.
As Deadmon he is a Champion level digimon who resembles a skeletal ghost wearing a redshirt.
As Poltergeistmon he is an Ultimate level digimon who looks like big, mean ghost wearing a redshirt.
Powers: As Redshirtmon unknown.
As Deadmon can possess the bodies of others.
As Poltergeistmon has the ability to move objects without touching them.
Biography: An ordinary redshirt turned into a Digimon because of an Anime plot twist. Didn't want to be turned back because then he would have the same life expectancy as an ordinary redshirt. Remained as he had become thanks to the sorcerer Xlix casting a spell preserving the change. Joined LICC Small afterwards.

Not a bad script, but someone was missing...

By KAM on Sunday, July 07, 2002 - 5:31 am:

Sent a pic of Artsy-Fartsy to the Archive.

By Artsys Author on Sunday, July 07, 2002 - 10:31 pm:

Oooo, I hope I get to see it soon! I"m always interested in takes on my character, esp. since I am completely incapable of drawing her....

By KAM on Monday, July 08, 2002 - 5:34 am:

Well that depends on Kira's schedule. ;-) If you want me to send a copy, you'll have to resend me your email address.

By KAM on Sunday, July 14, 2002 - 5:45 am:

Noticed some spelling errors on the Art Museum page the other day. Such as Kira's picture of Hambutger Pattie & Elektron's drawing of Ze French Knight. There might be more. I didn't look at every page.

By KAM on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 - 3:16 am:

I've sent a revised pic of The Great Emancipator to the Archives (redid his coat), as well as pics of Donna, Enesku, Sailor Good, Sailor Evil & Shadow Senshi.

I may have gone just the teensiest bit over the line with the Donna & Enesku pics.

My original Hamburger Pattie pic now drops to 4th most decadent LICC pic.

Maybe Padawan & Matt might want to send me their email addys in case those two pics end up in Club Limbo with the Cheeseburger Pattie pic?
