Archangel Discussion 3

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: L.I.C.C.: The Archangel Trilogy: The Archangel Discussion Board: Archangel Discussion 3
By Brian Webber on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 - 2:56 pm:

I figured it was time to start this. Just read my last message on Board 2 and pick up from there.

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, February 20, 2002 - 12:59 pm:

Looks like I'll have to re-do the website again. Ahz is back!

By Brian Webber on Thursday, February 21, 2002 - 2:38 pm:

All except JD!

Stop posting for a ltitle awhile!

I am writing a HUGE ending for this chapter, quite different from I'd originally planned. Possibly even better. The point is I can't post it from my Text files until JD has Commander Milkshake take the Spideship back to their universe. It's going to be big, and hopefully shocking, but also interesting.

Thanks in advance.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, February 21, 2002 - 2:51 pm:

OH, FYI, can Colonator stick around to see if the reapirs hold? He can just go back with Tacoman adn Butrfli when they return. I've already written him into this post. I probably shouldn't have but I'm hitting a flow and changing anything now would ruin it.

By JD on Thursday, February 21, 2002 - 3:24 pm:

Sorry, Web, but check your email.

By Jon Wade on Monday, April 08, 2002 - 6:38 pm:

Ok.. I'm supposed to open the next chapter, but there's nothing to open the chapter with. No way to add messages...

By Brian Webber on Monday, April 08, 2002 - 8:40 pm:

I told him to open it! Oh, I'm gonna give JD a piece of my mind. Where's my Hotmail password?!?

By Josh M on Thursday, April 11, 2002 - 3:29 pm:

So let me get this straight, a Galaxy Class starship hit Ryo-O at warp and she wasn't destroyed? Come on. Unless Ryo's in another dimension there's no way she should survive. Nothing would.

By Jason on Thursday, April 11, 2002 - 4:04 pm:

Well, since a starship at warp is mostly in subspace, most of the ship is in subspace at the point of impact. Since Ryo-O isn't in subspace at all, most of the offending galaxy class ship would have missed Ryo-O.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, April 11, 2002 - 4:49 pm:

I'm sititng out of this argument since I didn't write that post.

By Josh M on Thursday, April 11, 2002 - 8:52 pm:

Then why go to warp? Why not hit her at full impulse?

And why did Riker order Crusher to set a collision course for the Borg Cube at warp in BOBW?

By Jason on Thursday, April 11, 2002 - 9:44 pm:

In the borg's case, they would have their own subspace field, putting the cube partially in subspace as well. So both the realspace and the subspace portions of the ships collide.

As for why the ship didn't ram at impulse, it would have given Ryo-O enough time to shoot it down before impact.

By Josh M on Friday, April 12, 2002 - 4:07 pm:

The cube would not need its subspace field to be active. It is not at warp. When not at warp, you don't need an active subspace field.

I just don't think your correct in the whole subspace thing. I guess that's what being a nitpicker is about though.

By Josh M on Sunday, April 14, 2002 - 1:13 am:

What exactly is Hudzen's job? Isn't he tactical? Doesn't he fire the weapons?

By Brian Webber on Sunday, April 14, 2002 - 10:26 pm:

Well, in an emergency the helmsman, in this case Rita, can fix the phasers into position and shoot by line of sight. This is usually a good thing in close quarters combat with an equally maneuverable ship, which makes targettting bys ensors a real btich.

By Josh M on Monday, April 15, 2002 - 1:34 pm:

Doesn't that usually work as the helsman lining up and tactical actually pushing the button?

By Brian Webber on Thursday, May 02, 2002 - 5:03 pm:

HELP ME!

I, for the life of me, can't think of a way to end this story!

http://hypertales.com/?S=2182&A=Story&Story=39

It's part 1 of a three part pre-quel to Archangel Trilogy, all of them stories about prior ships named Archangel. I'm also going to write the third one, but I'm looking to tap someone else to pen Angels of the Multiverse 2.

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 - 3:41 pm:

OK, it's time to decide who's coming and who's going when we get to Archangel 2: Rebuild.

Returning for sure: Greymoran, Keith, Sorik.
Downgrading to guest-star/recurring status: Rita (maternity leave), Carrie.

This levaes, Hudzen, Ahz, and Jackson. I'd like to see Jackson and Hudzen return for certain. Ahz, I'm considering asking Jason to move him to guest-star status. I was thinking having the reformed XDCA hierarchy giving Ahz his own command, and he could be recurring like Captain Redding. Why? Well, there have been a few too many deus ex machina situations. Ahz has come close to ending the story WAY before I'd intended it too. It's not that I don't like him, beleive me. But ultimately, it's not my call.

If you plan to have you character die at the end of HFJG though, let me know BEFORE we get to The Rings so I can write a suitable exit.

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 - 3:43 pm:

Oh, BTW, in Chapter Thirteen, the reason I gave a name to that ship that flew between the Archangel and a blast that would've killed her? It was a potential entry for JD! I figured that the guy/girl who was at the helm there would be requested by Greymoran to be the temp-replacement for Rita at the helm in Rebuild.

What do ya' think JD?

By Josh M on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 - 3:50 pm:

I think that Hudzen can return for Rebuild. I'm trying to think of a way to end the whole "Greyvirus" thing.

By Jon Wade on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 - 7:28 pm:

Jackson could stay and be permanent first officer under Greymoran...

By Brian Webber on Thursday, June 27, 2002 - 12:13 am:

Cool. Especially since I've already written the final post for Archangel 3: Mirror Dance (with periodic changes as the story goes along of course) and Hudzen and Jackson are VERY VERY VERY important to it.

BTW, Josh and Jon, I'm going to be sending you an e-mail in a minute. Just a heads up.

By JD on Thursday, June 27, 2002 - 4:42 pm:

I dunno, Bri, about joining Archangel. I certainly appreciate the offer, y'know, but honestly I don't even read the story and don't know if I'd be of a mind to attempt a different format like this. I'll have to think about it a bit.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, June 27, 2002 - 5:12 pm:

Well it's not like I'm forcing you to. I just opened the door. It's YOUR call, and your call alone, wether or not to walk through it.

By Josh M on Friday, June 28, 2002 - 12:06 am:

Webber: I'll send a burst of ultraviolet radiation throuhg the lower levels. That should take care of the Predator's cloaking sheilds.

Isn't this the same as sending the rays that the Sun emits into the corridor? Will that really affect their cloaking? (Sorry, I've never seen the movies in their entirety.)

By Brian Webber on Saturday, June 29, 2002 - 12:50 pm:

I don't know. What am I, a ••••••• scientist? :)

By Brian Webber on Monday, July 01, 2002 - 11:47 pm:

OK, here's what we're gonna do.

Jon, Josh, I want you guys to kill the six Predators coming after you, in a timely, but dramatic manner. Make it exciting and tense. Don';t just have Hudzen blow them all away in one shot. Leave one for Ahz to take care of if you like. Don't forget they have self-destruct systems that could take out the enitre ship on their arm mount when you do this!

Then, I'll post "To Be Continued..." and have JD open the final chapter of The Hunt For Jake Grey!

By Josh M on Tuesday, July 02, 2002 - 11:29 pm:

Whoops.

You may want to delete my post.

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, July 03, 2002 - 2:31 pm:

Just e-mail JD. I don't mind. You can even tell him I said so. And he gives you any BS I'll get your back. :)

By Padawan Observer on Thursday, August 15, 2002 - 5:28 am:

Greymoran asked Sorik to come up with a way to reach the command center. Sorik suggested something, and Greymoran said 'no need' and came up with his own method. What's the point of that? Why did he ask Sorik to come up with something in the first place?

By Hudzen, I mean Josh M on Thursday, August 15, 2002 - 11:24 am:

My June 28 post should have been a post by Hudzen, not Josh M.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, August 15, 2002 - 11:38 am:

Josh: E-mail JD Josh. I'm sure he'll fix it for ya.

Paddy: Well, you gotta remember, with the exceptions of the REALLY important plot twists which I've written well in advance (with occasional alterations of course), a lot of this is me making it up as aI go along, and sadly my short term memory is slightly to the right of that guy in Memento. I should've realized that, and I boned up. Sorry.

By Brian Webber on Monday, December 16, 2002 - 4:40 pm:

Jason: Well, since my not-so-subtle hints seem to have been ignored, although to state blatantly what I'd like.

I want Ahz to defeat the White Dragon in a Forgotten Realms appropiate way. I'd also like you to write the Archangel's escape from the station, since Ryo-O is established has playing the most important part. She and Carrie have to work together tightly to pull it off after all.

One note for you Jace. Make it exciting. :)

By Jon Wade on Monday, December 16, 2002 - 6:12 pm:

Are we also going to want to destroy the station eventually? Maybe Jackson somehow creates a tiny black hole that escapes and ends up getting bigger and bigger, making for a more exciting escape or something....

By Brian Webber on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 - 11:19 am:

No, we're too close to the end for that. The station is about to have a major disaster though. :)

By Brian Webber on Thursday, January 30, 2003 - 10:42 pm:

Hopefully now that Adon is back at LICC, maybe, just maybe Ryo-O and Carrie can escape and we can finish The Hunt For Jake Grey. That would really f-ing nice wouldn't it? We're getting really close to the big climactic battle, and my final draft for the first post for Rebuild Chapter 1 is this close (holds fingers about a half-inch apart) to being finished. I was hoping that things would start to roll along faster here once we got to the final chpater of HFJG. Shows how much I know. But, maybe with the hiatus between LICCs 3 and 4...

By Smart-Aleck on Friday, January 31, 2003 - 1:52 am:

Hi, Atus!

By Josh M on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 3:19 pm:

BTW, what the heck happened to TorGal?

By Jon Wade on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 4:57 pm:

Nice ending, but one nit...
Technically, for girls, it's a bat mitzvah.
By the way, when the next chapter starts up, I may have Jackson and Butrfli visit. They havn't visited before because the various dimensional sensors showd that it wasn't safe :)
Maybe it could be an official diplomatic mission between the LICC's Earth and the XDCA.

By Brian Webber on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 1:00 pm:

Jon: Whoa, great minds think alike. I had a similar idea myself in regards to a diplomatic thingee. :)

Josh: I left that open-ended on purpose. *evil grin*

By Brian Webber, Geek on Sunday, April 27, 2003 - 3:12 pm:

Hey JD1 Go ahead and close down the Archangel Dicussion area. We've got a Blog now! http://greymoran.blog-city.com

By Brian Webber on Thursday, May 15, 2003 - 9:28 pm:

It looks like someone is going to have to write Ahz's goodbye speech since the guy that plays him is completely ignoring us. Jon? You wanna give it a shot?

By Jon Wade on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 7:06 am:

I'm not good at writing other characters... besides, I'm not sure what Ahz is supposed to be talking about...

By Jon Wade on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 7:06 am:

Sorry.. meant other people's charactes...

By Brian Webber on Friday, May 16, 2003 - 2:42 pm:

I don't know. Maybe how honred he is to be given such a prestiguous job, and how much he'll miss the crew of the Archangel? You know Jason better than I do. What do you think he would say if he wasn't ignoring us?

By Paramount´s and Douglas Adam´s Lawyers on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 - 3:19 pm:

Dear Mr. Webber.

We are seriously concerned about the blatant plaigarism and copyright infringement during the first post to "Rebuild (Archangel 2)".

Please contact us at once.

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 - 5:01 pm:

Two Things:

Josh, I've left the door open for your stuff about Hudzen adn the Greyvirus. Can't wait to red it.

How come no one else 'sides me has posted at the Archangel Blog yet? Did y'all get the e-mail where I gave you the password and everything? I myself just posted a review for The Matrix Reloaded.

By Josh M on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 - 1:31 am:

Hey Brian, did you get my email?

By Brian Webber on Thursday, June 19, 2003 - 3:18 pm:

Which one? The final part of the Compendium? Yeah I got it. I forgot to reply, sorry. Anyway, it's fine and I'll put it up soon.

By Josh M on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 1:51 pm:

Yeah

By Josh M on Saturday, July 19, 2003 - 11:01 am:

So, what's and O&H-U?

By JM on Saturday, July 19, 2003 - 11:01 am:

I mean, which universe does O&H stand for?

By Brian Webber on Sunday, July 20, 2003 - 12:21 am:

Orcs & Humans. The subtitle for the first Warcraft game. I was going to call it WCU, but then I remembered that THAT was the designation for Wing Commander universes.

By Brian Webber on Saturday, August 30, 2003 - 7:50 am:

Jon: Dude, I forgot to tell you, but I was hoping that you'd take over the anamoly story line. Call it delegating. :)

By Josh M on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 11:23 pm:

And CU8 stands for what universe?

By Brian Webber on Thursday, January 15, 2004 - 12:24 pm:

Charmed.

By Josh M on Monday, March 01, 2004 - 7:53 pm:

I'll try to wrap this thing up either tonight or over the next few days.

By Brian Webber on Monday, March 01, 2004 - 8:55 pm:

Sweeet.

By Josh M on Saturday, March 13, 2004 - 11:51 am:

Looks like I was wrong. I'm going to be away for about a week. I guess we can wrap up our 10 month chapter then.

By JM on Saturday, March 20, 2004 - 8:06 pm:

Now we can wrap.

By Brian Webber on Saturday, March 20, 2004 - 10:53 pm:

Awesome. Go ahead and write the ending, (Try to work in something that ties the subplot in with the tile if possible), and I'll e-mail JD to tell him to activate Chapter Two once you've posted. :)

By Josh M on Monday, March 22, 2004 - 6:36 pm:

That should do it. It only took 11 months. :)

By The Copyright Police on Monday, March 22, 2004 - 7:23 pm:

We may have some issues with your boards: "Rage of a Demon King", "LIving Witness" "The Light Fantastic", and "Small Gods"

By Brian Webber on Monday, March 22, 2004 - 10:05 pm:

Josh" Our second longest ever. ;)

Copyright Police: Hey, why don't you go bug the WB? They had an episode of Smallville that shared the same title with an episode of Stargate SG-1 that aired only three days later.

By Brian Webber on Monday, March 22, 2004 - 10:14 pm:

Nicely done Josh! I'm just going to make one more tiny little post, then send my e-mail to JD.

By Josh M on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 1:42 am:

Thought this was sort of interesting. The cover for Scifi.com's recent weekly letter:

http://www.scifi.com/sfw/gallery/cover359.html

By JD (Jdominguez) on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 8:55 am:

S'open.

By Brian Webber on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 10:01 pm:

Josh: Not bad.

JD: Thank-ee sai. ;) Eighty cool points to whoever gets that reference.

By Josh M on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 11:27 pm:

Hmm, interesting opening.

By Brian Webber on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 11:42 pm:

Thanks. That was about the fiftieth draft of the opening. I'd been working on it since I had JD change the title way back when. After your nicely done ending for Knight of the Word, I pretty much scrapped everything except the intro, then started over from scratch. I was up all night on that one. :)

By Brian Webber, who is not very good at this subtlety thing on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 11:48 pm:

BTW, I'll give you two very self-involved guesses as to who the XDCA's man on the inside of HGU is. ;)

By Josh M on Sunday, March 28, 2004 - 3:16 pm:

I was thinking that it is either Arthur, because he probably wouldn't think it through before taking the money, or Zaphod, because he'd sell one of his heads if the price is right.

My two guesses.

By Brian Webber on Sunday, March 28, 2004 - 10:02 pm:

You're about to find out Josh.

By Josh M on Saturday, April 17, 2004 - 12:45 am:

Um, BTW, I didn't mean for Hudzen to say that the Heart has a Bad News Drive. I meant to say and Improbability Drive. I think.

By Brian Webber on Saturday, April 17, 2004 - 6:00 am:

Josh: Actually, by this point the Heart of Gold's namesake engine had already been removed by the Krikkit robots. Granted it's been a few months since I re-read the Hithhikers books, but I don't think Zaphod ever got it back.

By Josh M on Saturday, April 17, 2004 - 1:24 pm:

Oh. Hmm. I'd forgot about that.

By Josh M on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 - 2:25 am:

BTW, in my last post for Hudzen, it should be XFU-3 rather than SWU-3.

By Brian Webber on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 - 8:46 pm:

Don't worry, I'll fix it when I put it up on the website.

By Josh M on Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 1:34 am:

Hey Webber, this has nothing to do with the story (or lack thereof). I just wanna give props to your state. It is a very beautiful place. I was there last week (sister looking at colleges) and we love it. So go you. And your state too.

By Brian Webber on Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 12:58 pm:

Hey, you were in town and din't tell me? ••••, I could've taken you to the Diamond Cabaret (classy gentleman's club *wink*). I had a card that would allow free entry for the entire month of July. Actually I had two. I could borrow my Dad's since he forgot he even had it. :)

By Josh M on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 1:14 am:

Well, we only drove through Denver on our way from Boulder to Springs. The main point of the trip was to take my sister to some of the state's major universities.

Though, you know, I wouldn't've minded your idea, heh. :)

By Brian Webber on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 2:42 am:

Yep, you and me enjoying what Frank Zappa sang about. T and B. ;-)

By Brian Webber on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 - 12:56 am:

Guys, Wed. or Thur. night, a little after 5 P.M. MST, I'm hosting the latest session of Angel Chat at the website. Anyone who can make it, go ahead and try. You too JD. The recent slow down of the story makes me think we need a little pow-wow to figure out where the hell we're going. And then when this nice girl I invited to the chat room shows up, LEAVE! :)

By Josh M on Thursday, August 26, 2004 - 6:19 pm:

I'm there right now.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, August 26, 2004 - 7:02 pm:

Yeah, shame you didn't show up until about 20 minutes after I'd just assumed no one was coming (I was there alone for an hour!) and split.

Sigh. Even my darling star~kitty didn't show up. :(

By Josh M on Friday, August 27, 2004 - 3:31 pm:

sorry man. to make things even better, we had a wonderful storm last night and I guess it somehow knocked internet out around 7:40 or so. It sucked.

By Brian Webber on Saturday, August 28, 2004 - 11:24 am:

Brutal.

By Josh M on Sunday, September 05, 2004 - 10:53 pm:

So, do we have an ET on when this story is going to go on?

By Brian Webber on Sunday, September 05, 2004 - 11:31 pm:

Just waiting for Paddy. After Sorik recounts his adventures on Frogstar B, and solves the problem of how to get the Archangel into the Improbability field, I'm going to do another Catherine Willows post, then the dreaded To be Continued...
