Someone called?

By ScottN on Thursday, July 11, 2002 - 2:10 pm:

I think the next board should be called, "LICC3 Discussion 10: The Wrath of KAM".

Then we could all say (wait for it...)

KAAAAAAM!!!! KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMM!!!!!

No! Please! Stop! I promise I'll be good! I won't do it again! Honest! NOOOOOOOoooooooo....

By ScottN on Thursday, July 11, 2002 - 3:33 pm:

Sven, shouldn't you have posted as "Sven of Number Nine in a token..."?

By Electron on Monday, July 15, 2002 - 2:59 pm:

The Furby did cast a fairly simple stamina spell on Artsy (actually lots of). It's permanent like a "heal wounds" until you encounter an enemy. A long rest/sleep would have probably the same effect.

By Brian Webber on Monday, July 15, 2002 - 4:30 pm:

Hey Jon!

How about having the moving builidng tear through the CAoL universe? Mom's RPG uses an alt.net system of posting. I imagien it would be good for a laugh.

By Jon Wade on Monday, July 15, 2002 - 4:36 pm:

Hmm.. could be fun, but I don't usually post on Usenet...

By KAM on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 - 3:49 am:

Moving building? As in the Psuedoscience building?

BTW I did read the post where the Psuedoscience building showed up in Archangel. You got Mr. Absurd's personality wrong. He's uber-relaxed when it comes to things. He wouldn't be screaming for help. (See my post on Phantom Returns 26). Best way I can explain it, imagine a very highly medicated person who greets everything with a smile & a "Hello".

What's CAoL?

By ScottN on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 - 9:40 am:

Yeah... How about keeping NitCentral cybersoaps ON NITCENTRAL?????

By Brian Webber on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 - 12:59 pm:

Scott: Oh geez Mr. Touchy McSensitive, I'm just suggesting that during it's travels through the multiverse Mr. Abusrd MIGHT make a brief appearence in the Callahanian Army of Light's universe!

KAM: My Mom's online RPG. Been going on longer than LICC and Archangel COMBINED!

By KAM on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 - 7:15 am:

Well, as Absurd & R's author I'm not too comfortable about someone else posting them elsewhere.

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 - 1:36 pm:

KAM: You didn't seem to mind when the Building suddenly passed through Jake Grey's battlestation in Archangel.

By ScottN on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 - 1:48 pm:

Maybe he didn't know about it? I certainly don't read/follow Archangel, so I didn't know about it either.

By Josh M on Thursday, July 18, 2002 - 12:24 am:

Scott: I believe that he actually mentioned the Archangel post in one of his previous posts.

There it is:
July 16, 4:49 AM

By KAM on Thursday, July 18, 2002 - 4:24 am:

I did not know about the post until after Jon had made it. (He'd mentioned it as a possible idea on the previous board, but I hadn't given permission.)

And I did think of pointing out his getting Mr. Absurd's personality wrong, but I decided not to. I did do the Phantom Returns post to show a more accurate portrayal.

Of course here at NitCentral there's a good chance that the people on the various cybersoaps know who Mr. Absurd is & what happened to him. On your mom's rpg I would think most, if not all, the posters would think it a bizarre off-topic post & not get the reference.

I assume Callahanian refers to Spider Robinson's Callahan's Cross-Time Saloon series?

By Brian Webber on Thursday, July 18, 2002 - 2:00 pm:

I dunno. I never participated. I imagine that if you or Jon posted it would at the least get a cheap laugh. Then we can collect ALL the appearences form the building, and put it together in one big novella. :)

By Brian Webber on Friday, July 19, 2002 - 2:52 pm:

Another silly titling suggestion from me;

Unlike KAM who likes simple, overly descriptive titles that pretty give away everything about the story, I like a little bit of mystery here and there. "M" over at LICC2 was my personal favorite. However, I've decided NOT to title any story I wasn't heavily involved in starting this time around (waits for the cheering to stop).

But, I do have one tiny suggestion for whomever takes on the daunting task of making up titles.

One word. Thesaurus, Benjamin, Thesaurus (obligatory The Graduate reference gets booed).

The point is, any idiot can call a story "The Return Of Some Guy" but where's the challenge in that?!? How's about soemthing like, um, oh golly this crazy AOL Thesaurus thing ain't worth half a sack of dead baby ducklings! AGGH! And I was going to be so show-offy with all my big words! Gosh-darnit!

Anyway, you get the idea.

By Brian Webber on Friday, July 19, 2002 - 2:53 pm:

OH no, I tried to cancel that post so I could repalce the D word with soemthing that wouldn;t get Dumped! Oh God why does thou hate me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

By Josh M on Friday, July 19, 2002 - 4:30 pm:

Geez, I'm sorry you're so put off by the Return of Greymoran (Or was it Greymoran Returns?). Who says a title has to be challenging? It's the LICC! I was trying to stay in spirit with the titles of the original LICC (As in LICC vs. everything, Return of this person, Duplicate Spidership)

Of course, I know this isn't just directed at me but still...

By Brian Webber on Friday, July 19, 2002 - 11:52 pm:

Well it's not that I HATE those titles guys. I just think variety is the psice of life, so why not enjoy it with a ltitle cummin, paprika and oregano?

By Jon Wade on Saturday, July 20, 2002 - 9:10 am:

By Groucho Marx on Saturday, July 20, 2002 - 2:52 pm:

Make that three hard-boiled eggs.

By Padawan Observer on Sunday, July 21, 2002 - 2:24 am:

Someone's probably already mentioned this, but one of the story boards which involves Adon's death and resurrection should be called "Who Mourns For Adon"

By KAM on Sunday, July 21, 2002 - 3:36 am:

Unlike KAM who likes simple, overly descriptive titles that pretty give away everything about the story

When exactly did I say this, Webber?

Also aren't "simple" & "overly descriptive" opposites?

And if a simple title gives away everything about the story, then how much of a story was there to begin with?

By JD (Jdominguez) on Sunday, July 21, 2002 - 11:59 am:

Don't call people names, Webber.

Chill out, too.

By Brian Webber on Sunday, July 21, 2002 - 1:15 pm:

I call people dingus all the time! Even my friends! 'Sides, my point was that the titles for LICC1 are bland as hell, and I think doing mysterious titles like 'M' make things more interesting thatn "Return of Professor Negative." One doesn't give away any plot twists. The other gives away the BIG plot twist. See?

Another suggestion is lines from Shakespere plays (hey, it worked for DS9). And I still say the Thesauraus is a good idea. And I'm also working on (stealing) a new villian. :)

By Josh M on Sunday, July 21, 2002 - 1:34 pm:

Weren't the chapters with Adon's death and resurrection the exact same chapters with Tacoman's death and resurrection. We could make the title "Who Mourns for Adon (and Tacoman)"

By KAM on Monday, July 22, 2002 - 2:46 am:

How about "Adon & Taco's Bogus Adventure"?

Or "The Undiscovered Country Club", "There & Back Again", "Hello, We Must Be Going", "Not The Dead Parrot Sketch"?

"Humor Takes A Holiday"? (not many jokes on boards 9, 10 & 11)

Board 14 has several possibilities
"The Sound Of A Bell"
"Good Defeats Evil"
"Shadow & Shades"
"Talking To The Dead"
"Is It Worth It?"
"Mirror Demon"
"Dead Dudes, Dragging, Demon, Damsels & Smoke" (yeah, right)

By KAM on Monday, July 22, 2002 - 2:58 am:

Come to think of it, Webber. I don't think I've ever had anything to do with naming any of the storyboards.

And off-hand I only remember giving a thumbs down to 2 of your title suggestions.
"The Odd Oblivion"... Odd? Hardly a term that grabs the imagination. Oblivion? And you complained about me giving away the ending???
I forget what the second one was.

By Jon Wade on Monday, July 22, 2002 - 6:52 am:

Maybe "They're not dead, Jim?"

By Scott `Scott` N on Monday, July 22, 2002 - 7:41 am:

That should be "Bogus Journey", KAM!

Be Excellent to one another!

By Brian Webber on Monday, July 22, 2002 - 1:47 pm:

AN Odd Oblivion, not THE Odd Oblivion, plus, seeign as I don't remember what board that was for, it DOESN'T give away the ending. So there.

Oooh, I like that first title for Board 14. The Sound Of A Bell. It's nice and mysterious. Me likey.

By Josh M on Monday, July 22, 2002 - 5:19 pm:

If you put the title next to the board, which is what we do with the titles, "An Odd Oblivion" probably would give away the ending. Apparently.

By Artsys Author on Monday, July 22, 2002 - 6:20 pm:

Hey, all you fellow LICCers...I'm going to be offline for the month of August. A little thing called attending a screenwriting seminar in Hollywood. :)

So I'm going to try and think up some way to let Artsy be out of the battles and so forth to come--till about the first week Sept.

No dying this time, I promise. ;)

[oh, and any ideas would be welcome]

By Brian Webber on Monday, July 22, 2002 - 10:25 pm:

How about sending her off on a quest that you can then turn into a short story for The Reading Room?

As for 'An Odd Oblivion', I fail to see how it gives away the ending to anything. OK, yeah, obviously SOMETHING probably gets killed and/or destroyed, but beyond that, what else can you tell from it? It's quirky, that's why I picked it.

By Padawan Observer on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 - 1:10 am:

How about her just disappearing into the background... it's happened before.

By KAM on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 - 4:39 am:

You suggested it for the Stand-In storyline. I assumed you chose Oblivion because the life expectancy of the Stand-ins was only supposed to be a week or two. And since the storyline somehow managed to last for two or three boards calling the first board An Odd Oblivion would be premature.

Actually An Odd Oblivion sounds like the title of a "club story". You know, the type of story that starts out like,
-----"I say Carruthers," Carstairs asked, accepting a drink from the waiter. "did I ever tell you about the time in darkest Africa when I was captured by the W'ardtheigo people?"
-----"Why no you haven't, old bean. Do tell. Were they viscious?"
-----"No, quite polite, but if I hadn't had my wits about me, I would have faced an odd oblivion."

By Jon Wade on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 - 6:25 am:

Maybe we can have Artsy go off with Seeker again...

By KAM on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 6:10 am:

Does this look like a Psuedoscience building to anyone?

By JD on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 10:21 am:

Wow, sure.

By Josh M on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 3:00 pm:

I'm going to be gone until August 3 so Rikard is about to become very quiet. I guess he'll say bye to Tacoman offscreen (or offboard, whatever it is).

By JD on Wednesday, July 31, 2002 - 12:37 pm:

Everyone, feel free to start plots or storylines, this setting is completely open. I had something planned, but I'm reconsidering because it seems too unwieldy now.

By KAM on Thursday, August 01, 2002 - 5:26 am:

I was wondering what was going on.

How about, "The planet exploded and on the other side of the debris field was a ship."? ;-) ;-)

The trouble is most possible storylines would seem to be internal to Alt-Earth and not something the LICC would be involved in.

Possibly a group of aliens could be trapped & LICC has to recover/capture them so they don't mess up the "natural" development of the planet, all the while trying to stay undercover & not interfere otherwise themselves.
Although they could just find the aliens with the sensors & beam them up which would seem to make the story rather short.

Another possibility is that Alt-Earth & all the little Alt-Humans aren't what they seem to be. (Insert Dramatic Music)

By Jon Wade on Thursday, August 01, 2002 - 7:09 am:

Maybe the Frank Conspiracy is starting to become popular on Alt-Earth...

By The Frank Conspiracy™ on Thursday, August 01, 2002 - 7:33 am:

No.

By Electron on Thursday, August 01, 2002 - 10:50 pm:

How many important older storylines are currently on the run and not yet in the garden?

- the vanished superheroes
- West&GROSS
- absurd dimensional travel
- ???

By JD on Thursday, August 01, 2002 - 11:18 pm:

The vanished superheroes is the subject of an independent story, now.

West's dead. GROSS is on the run. I may use them again, may not.

I dunno about Absurd.

By KAM on Friday, August 02, 2002 - 4:20 am:

How many important older storylines are currently on the run and not yet in the garden?
- absurd dimensional travel

Important??? What are you smoking? It just seemed like the overall tone of LICC was going more serious and I thought it might be a good idea to remove my more comical characters. Since he was Vice-President I couldn't just have him pack up and leave the universe voluntarily so I had to have him go involuntarily. I genuinely didn't think anyone would make a big deal out of it.

By Josh M, back again on Saturday, August 03, 2002 - 10:33 pm:

More storylines: (Some of these may be in the garden)
1. Was the Gerber Elf ever resolved? Was he just a guy that went around shooting people and didn't have anything to do with the LICC?

2. Proto the metal box and the Lieutenant in the storage area. Although I guess that they left.

3. The Gene Windward story. That seems to be progressing

4. There's some guy on Alt-Earth's moon watching the battle.

5. Kiehart and Rocket Ranger are going somewhere

6. The sick lady from Earth seems to be trying to find Kiehart and change his life forever. I think.

7. Kilaev, the Ghost Girl, is still hanging around the ship. Hopefully, she'll eventually give us some Underworld consequences.

8. And, of course, there is our main current storyline, Alt-Earth and the battle above it.

By Brian Webber on Sunday, August 04, 2002 - 12:05 am:

BF: Hey, look, I 'd like to get back to Kiehart's departure as soon as possible, so can we just have the little group (Ranger, Kiehart et al) return by early next chapter, and we'll just co-author a story for the Reading Room about what happened on the mission? It would give you a little bit more leeway. Just make sure that Kiehart is both sarcastic and insightful. :)

By KAM on Sunday, August 04, 2002 - 3:23 am:

Josh M, I thought you changed your name to John M so you wouldn't be confused with your character?

Wow. Someone payed attention to the Gerber Elf stuff. Will wonders never cease?
I ain't explaining it, but maybe BF, or some other Marvel fan, might.

In my mind 4 & 8 are connected. Ooooh wee ooooooh.

I'd like to see 7 happen, but it doesn't seem like Kira has been around for awhile.

I would guess that Proto is Colanator's offspring & that the mysterious Lt. is Shooting Star, but I'm probably wrong.

By BF on Wednesday, August 07, 2002 - 11:39 am:

KAM, I have absolutely no idea what the heck the Gerber Elf thing is about. Except for the thing with Steve Gerber, creator of Howard the Duck, when it started.

Webber, wrapping it up in the Reading Room will be a good idea.

I'm on vacation from LICC until further notice. Mainly because I'm suffering from severe burnout.

By Keith Alan Morgan on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 - 3:17 am:

Well, now I'm really confused.

Just when you think you know yourself...

Keith?

By KAM on Thursday, August 15, 2002 - 6:15 am:

I can't believe no one made a single smart-alecky comment about that.

I thought it was funny. Just another example of my infamously bad judgement, I guess.

If anyone bothered clicking on the link, the gal's name is Keith Knight. The picture comes from the San Diego Comic Con so I guess she is a writer or artist, but I'm not familiar with her work.

By Padawan Observer on Thursday, August 15, 2002 - 6:34 am:

KAM, you don't look much like I imagined you. I saw you as a little more... I dunno, male, I suppose. But you look more like one would think of Kira as looking.

(Wow, it took me a long time to write this post. I hope KAM hasn't posted anything while I was typing it )

By Padawan Observer on Thursday, August 15, 2002 - 6:35 am:

By Josh M on Thursday, August 15, 2002 - 11:20 am:

I might have posted something but the picture just confuse me.

By Jon Wade on Thursday, August 15, 2002 - 11:32 am:

I'm just wondering what's the deal with the person behind her...

By Brian Webber on Thursday, August 15, 2002 - 11:55 am:

Hey BF, feel free to write Ranger and Kiehart's triumphant return anytime now. I've decided that board XXX will be the perfect chapter to write out Kiehart as a full time character (like I said before, I plan to have him show up for the LICC 3 Finale, if and when we ge to it).

By KAM on Friday, August 16, 2002 - 5:57 am:

Cute, Paddy.

By ScottN on Monday, August 19, 2002 - 11:07 pm:

Jason, I know you probably wanted to move the story along, but that sort of deus ex machina (Adon getting everything about history) can be really annoying to those of us who were on the away team.

By JD (Jdominguez) on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 - 12:20 pm:

Well, folks, a bit of bad news. I'm taking a long-overdue vacation from LICC for a while. Don't worry, I should still be around enough to mod when needed, but Milkshake is departing for now, and Colanator can be written by whomever chooses too. :-)

This does present a problem with the current storyline. I'm going to have to let it go, anyone who wants to take it or change it is welcome to. If you're wondering about just what my original idea was, email me for the details. :-) Do anything ya like. Take care, and see ya guys later.

What's a "storyline"?

By Unfrozen Caveman LICC Fan on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 - 3:12 pm:

I'm just a caveman who fell through some ice and was later thawed by your scientists. Your world frightens and confuses me. I know nothing about this "storyline" of which you speak.

Should Tacoman come back and retake command?

By Josh M on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 - 5:54 pm:

No confidence in Rikard, Jon?

Besides, if things get too bad, Adon is there. He was the second officer before he died. I'm sure he has some command experience (right?)

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 - 6:38 pm:

Although they could stop by to check up on things. After all, I DID have Jackson and Butrfli fitting in rather tightly into the Kiehart Departure storyline. Mostly cause them, Ranger, and occasionally Rikard were the only ones who ever seriously gave him the time of day. But you don't have to. I've got an alternate version drawn up already, involving Rikard (it used to star Milkshake, but, well...).

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 - 7:02 pm:

BTW, not that any of you really CARE, but the Archangel site has been given a bit of a face-lift. http://www.geocities.com/greymoransrevenge

By Brian Webber on Friday, August 30, 2002 - 9:19 pm:

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, my storylien for Kiehart's exit is somewhat inspired by the Family Law episode Are You My Father? http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/GuidePageServlet/showid-241/epid-2651/ is the only link I can find with any info on the episode of the now cancelled show.

And, in-keeping with the sci-fi atmosphere of the LICC, this epsiode had a Babylon 5 connection. With Claudia Christian playing the sex-changed father mentioned in the summary as the B-plot.

P.S.: If anyone here besides me has seen that peisode PLEASE don't spoil the ending of the A-plot.

By Padawan Observer on Sunday, September 01, 2002 - 7:34 am:

We really must get something done with the current storyline. The one with the alternative Earth, I mean, not the one about Kiehart's son. Nothing seems to be happening and it's no longer LICC any more. Why does NO-ONE start storylines these days, instead they just have the LICC go on vacation all the time. I'll look through LICC3 and show you what I mean, but I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.

By KAM on Monday, September 02, 2002 - 2:53 am:

Well, I sure as hell tried, back when JD said this was an open storyline.

However, despite the fact that there were hostile ships firing around the Spidermobile, Commander "Don't call me captain" Milkshake acted like a man who was annoyed that the neighborhood kids were getting a little loud.

Then despite 2 ships from the planet having discovered the Spidermobile, he kept going on about "We've got to get the cloak up so no one from the planet sees us!" Hello? JD, what part of 'Already Been Discovered' did you not understand?

Frankly I'm sick & tired of playing 47 characters just to keep an unpopular storyline going so I ended it.

By Jon Wade on Monday, September 02, 2002 - 7:16 am:

Maybe we should start LICC: the Next Generation, featuring all the kids that were on the current Spidership...
Fran and Logan, Quito, Ansh, Ect, Ect...

By Smart Alec on Monday, September 02, 2002 - 7:46 am:

I'm not familiar with Etc Etc. Is that a new character? What kind of powers do they have?

By Jon Wade, Smart Alecing the Smart Alec on Monday, September 02, 2002 - 11:47 am:

it's the superhero name for the Anna and the King of Siam... they dance, they learn about cultures, she teaches evil a lession, while he does his kingly thing...

By Padawan Observer on Monday, September 02, 2002 - 12:11 pm:

Smart Alec can't be a very good reader - Jon Wade didn't say 'Etc Etc', he said 'Ect, Ect'!

KAM - I expect JD has discovered the error of the ways, but I can't tell you because he's not around. We are, however, and I say we all of us add our own bits to the plot and finally get it over with. Then we can start new storylines!

By JD on Monday, September 02, 2002 - 12:56 pm:

I do apologize, KAM, and I would go into why I wrote like that...but it might open up a whole can 'o worms. :-)

By Brian Webber on Tuesday, September 03, 2002 - 5:14 pm:

In case anyone is wondering why Kiehart's departure feels a bit rushed, it's cause I had lost the internet a couple days ago, and I might lose it again soon. I hope it turned out OK. I know it didn't turn out as good as I hoped, but it should at least be passable.

By Brian Webber on Friday, September 06, 2002 - 1:28 am:

:( Yeah, I knew it. It was too rushed. If it turned out like I'd hoped I'd probably be getting kudos from everyone except Pesti and KAM. They would hate it, as is natural. It is the order of things. I do not lament that. But, them's the breaks I suppose. At least I'm finally rid of Kiehart. I always felt like I never could take the charatcer to places I wanted to go creatively thanks to a certain "Never Kill Another Guy's Character" rule violator I shall not mention by name, who forced me to make Kiehart WAY more powerful than I had orignally intended, and that was just to keep him alive without violating the laws of physics!

By KAM on Friday, September 06, 2002 - 3:21 am:

*sigh* When did I become co-chairman of the Hate-Everything-Webber-Does committee?

While I won't pretend to have liked everything you've posted that's not the same as hating it.

Only once did you tick me off enough where I actually did try & derail what you were doing, and a large part of that was because I felt you were resorting to deus ex machinas to get out of the various situations.

If I truly hated your stuff I would just ignore it, instead I have tried to incorporate it, like with your spelling errors, or Ensign First 'cursing like a Webber creation'. Just trying to have fun. If it offends you... work on your spelling and don't have your characters curse so much.

BTW I think Pesti quit sometime during the Author storyline. Don't remember seeing any of his characters since then.

By Padawan Observer on Friday, September 06, 2002 - 11:06 am:

I very rarely comment on a story's action while it's going on, but right now I feel I must.

The original posts by 'more more stuff' etc. showed the Lieutenant and Proto the robot going into the atmosphere in a shuttlepod, then beaming down from there. Now Alex says that they beamed out of the cargo bay. Since the Lieutenant and Proto were presumably written by JD, who has given up on the story, it seems like has come to a stand-still. This storyline is only serving to prevent anything more interesting or exciting from going on.

Solutions? Perhaps we should do a 'a few days later...' and say that the alt-Terra storyline has been resolved 'between posts'. This, however, would not look good to someone reading the boards sometime in the future. But perhaps that's a small price to pay. What do the other authors think?

By Brian Webber on Friday, September 06, 2002 - 12:01 pm:

JD gave us permission to carry on the story without him. I would've done it myself, but, you know, I was a little busy writing out Kiehart. That and I really didn't have any ideas.

BTW, with hindsight being 20/20 and all, I'm glad no one jumped on the "Was Captain West Lt. Lopez' ex-father-in-law?" line that I dropped. It was dumb.

By Someone Who Watches on Friday, September 06, 2002 - 1:27 pm:

Yeah, besides we already had a dumb storyline lkie taht with Greymoran and Tacoman

By Brian Webber on Friday, September 06, 2002 - 1:38 pm:

Oh shut up Pesti. It wasn't dumb. It was spur-of-the-moment sure, but it wasn't dumb. In fact Jon and I think it worked out nicely, and it certainly adds a great deal of depth to Jackson Dupree, the clone aboard the Archangel.

Oh, and BTW, you can NEVER make fun of my spelling again. "Lkie taht?" Is that Haiwaiian for "I'm a mean-spirited idiot"? or soemthing?

By Josh M on Friday, September 06, 2002 - 2:42 pm:

Besides rushing it, I thought that Kiehart's departure was fine. It was a good departure for him.

As for the "A Few days later..." I say go for it. No one seems to know what to do with the alternate Earth.

By Electron on Friday, September 06, 2002 - 9:13 pm:

Careful, this place uses lots of Flash.

By Alex from Big Brother 3 on Saturday, September 07, 2002 - 8:08 am:

Wot no Domestos? ;-)

By JD on Saturday, September 07, 2002 - 11:13 am:

Probably best if the storyline is just fast-forwarded through. I had the germ of what appeared to be a good idea but it seems just too unworkable.

By Padawan Observer on Saturday, September 07, 2002 - 11:37 am:

Fast-forward as in, wrap up quickly, or fast forward as in, say 'A few days later'?

By JD on Saturday, September 07, 2002 - 11:47 am:

The Few Days Later method, I'd say.

By A possible ending on Sunday, September 08, 2002 - 4:29 am:

"And then Ensign Jaydee said, "Computer, end holoprogram." and the whole Alt-Earth storyline faded away and the spidermobile was still searching for the ships that attacked Station Z-Alpha."

By KAM on Sunday, September 08, 2002 - 4:32 am:

BTW JD, after waiting for more than a year for you to do something with Taconator's return (LICC XXXI, May 31, 2001) I've decided to do The Funky Horror story as a LICC Fic while I can still remember what I was planning to do with it.

Hope you don't mind my inventing a reason for why Taconator hasn't been seen in all this time.

By JD on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 - 11:09 am:

I don't mind at all, KAM.

By KAM on Sunday, September 15, 2002 - 7:41 am:

BF, I have some questions about, at least, one of your characters. Can you send me an email so I know where to send the questions?

Nipicking my previous post that should read LICC2 XXXI.

What would the board number be if the numbering had remained consistent? (i.e. no bloody LICC: The Final Chapter & no starting over with LICC 2 or 3.)

By Keith Alan Morgan (Kmorgan) on Sunday, September 15, 2002 - 7:45 am:

D'oh! Would have helped if I had put the email addy in my name with that post.

BTW JD, do you check your NitCentral address?

By Brian Webber, making things CRYSTAL clear on Monday, September 16, 2002 - 1:39 am:

Oh, just so we avoid any possible future nits, let me remind everyone that only FOUR peopl from the LICC know that the kid Kiehart took with him sin't really his son. Kiehart, Jackson, Butrfli, and HoloDoc. The first three are gone, adn the latter of the four is bound by doctor/patient confidentaillity. So when anyone brings up Kiehart's departure, remembert that OK? Even Grant Lopez doesn't know.

By Furby on Monday, September 16, 2002 - 9:28 am:

I know (nearly) everything!

By JD (Jdominguez) on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 - 11:16 am:

Yep, I do, KAM, but I'm seriously short on Net time these days. I'll get back to you soon, though.

By KAM on Thursday, September 19, 2002 - 4:24 am:

OK.

By Artsys Author on Saturday, September 21, 2002 - 12:02 am:

JD, sorry I can't take the time to post tonight. I've been pretty sick the last couple of days. Tomorrow, I promise! :-)

By Jon Wade on Monday, September 23, 2002 - 4:48 pm:

Ok.. here's where I'm going with my post...
As I put in the post, Alex Dupree has been somehow transported to the K-NIT TV-47 dimension, right on to the LICC: The Series soundstage. Eventually, he can meet the actors playing the various characters, leading to confusion and humor.
Whether it's the real thing, or Alex is just having a really strange dream is something we'll just have to see :)

By ScottN on Monday, September 23, 2002 - 5:51 pm:

In other words, "Visit to a Strange Planet Revisited".

By KAM on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 - 2:48 am:

I thought it was Weird Planet rather than Strange Planet, ScottN.

Also it sounds like Jon's doing stuff from both of the Weird/Strange stories. Revisited was just the actors on Enterprise.

By Jon Wade on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 - 7:02 am:

Um.. I guess.. I just happened to think it up, and thought it would bring some excitment to this story :)
I've never read the Weird/Strange stories...

By ScottN on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 - 9:31 am:

You're right, KAM.

By Padawan Observer on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 - 10:02 am:

Visit to a Weird Planet was about the Enterprise crew (well, Kirk, Spock and McCoy) on the set of a Star Trek episode.

Visit to a Weird Planet Revisited was about the corresponding actors on the Enterprise.

By ScottN on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 - 10:02 am:

OK, then it's the first, not the "Revisited" version. Thanks, Paddy!

By Jon Wade on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 - 5:04 pm:

Also, I figured that those that didn't go can meet with the actors that portray the other characters on the tv version.
Plus, we can explore the world of K-NIT TV-47...

By KAM on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - 5:50 am:

A while back I did toy with the idea of having the actors find themselves on the Spidermobile. Don't know why exactly I didn't try it. Maybe I figured it would turn out the way that the Author storyline later turned out ("Computer, zap the enemy." Zap. "End of threat.") or maybe that was when I quit LICC the first time.
My inspiration was actually a Justice League of America storyline where alien actors were pretending to be the heroes both to defend themselves from attack and to trick Superman into helping them.

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - 4:54 pm:

Oh, that's where you were going Jackson? I thought it was going to some weird thing about space-time messing up and that the areas of the Spidership now filled with different places would be in those diferent places or somehting. That's why I made that Grant Lopez post about the grass ands tuff. Sorry man, I didn't mean to F up your story. How should I write my way out of that boo-boo?

By ScottN on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - 5:23 pm:

How should I write my way out of that boo-boo?

"Grant wakes up from his daydream... 'Whoa. That was weird!"

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - 5:54 pm:

Scott: Nah, too deus ex machina. Maybe it could be an adjacent set for a movie about Irish people? I was mostly asking Jon what I should do since this story is his (isn't it?).

By Electron on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - 7:49 pm:

Clippy on a 386? Mwuahahaha! The pain, the pain!

Let there be "edit"!

By Jon Wade on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - 8:19 pm:

Maybe the place where Grant Lopez is happens to be a location shot or something...

By Clippys Author -- Lawrence Welk, just kidding on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - 10:21 pm:

Clippy on a 386? Mwuahahaha! The pain, the pain!

Tank you, tank you, ladies and gentlemen... And now let's hear it for da boys in da band! Ana 1 ana 2...

By KAM on Thursday, September 26, 2002 - 5:28 am:

Webber - Nah, too deus ex machina.
When has that ever stopped you before? I post a plot twist you don't like & *poof* you make it go away with the first deus ex machina you can think of.

By Clippy on a 386 on Thursday, September 26, 2002 - 1:18 pm:

It looks like you're trying to run Word AND File Manager without the machine crashing - do you want some help?

By Clippy on Thursday, September 26, 2002 - 1:31 pm:

It looks like you're writing a NitCentral post. Do you want some help?

By Clippy on Thursday, September 26, 2002 - 1:33 pm:

Here's more about me!

By Brian Webber on Thursday, September 26, 2002 - 2:31 pm:

KAM: ONCE! I did that once, and I was still new! >:-( GET OVER IT!

Jon: Good thinking. I'll let you handle the details. I think ahving the actors and the crew be able to go back and forth between the fake ship and the real ship could make for some interesting stories.

By Josh M on Thursday, September 26, 2002 - 8:40 pm:

Are we talking about getting encased in a solid block of deuterium (or some other substance) and being shot away by Taconator only to somehow break out and get all the way back to the space station and rip it open?

Or some other occasion?

By Nawdle on Thursday, September 26, 2002 - 9:45 pm:

I will either bring back Jadlad and eventually my other LICC characters before the end of the year or I won't, ever.

By Josh M on Thursday, September 26, 2002 - 9:55 pm:

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why forever?

By KAM on Friday, September 27, 2002 - 3:49 am:

4 times on LICC3 that I can remember, Webber. And I wasn't even posting when you started posting on LICC. (I stopped on LICC XXX & didn't come back until LICC2 XXIII.)

Sorry to hear that you're thinking of quitting, Nawdle, but I think I can understand why.

By Brian Webber on Friday, September 27, 2002 - 10:13 pm:

Josh: That deuterium thing wasn't ME violating the rule. Some putz tried to violate the old "NEVER KILL ANOTHER PERSON'S CHARACTER!" rule, and I HAD to. I'm still PO'ed about that becuase it dumped some character traits on Kiehart I did not want but got stuck with. >:-( And BTW, he climbed in through a pre-existing hull breach, so shut up. :(

By Nawdle on Saturday, September 28, 2002 - 1:22 am:

Actually, it's got nothing to do with the board or my fellow posters. I like you guys and gals and I won't quit posting here at Nitcentral. You see, it's because of things going on in my real life currently outside of the boards. It's private and I please ask that you not pry any further.

Thank you.

By BF on Monday, September 30, 2002 - 12:36 am:

*Sigh* You'd think people would notice that I've been gone for WELL OVER A MONTH!!!

Haven't visted the boards in a while. I'm currently suffering from burnout, and avoiding reading LICC will help me get over it. I have no idea what's going on storywise, and I won't until I decide to start posting again. The way I operate, its better that way.

I'm not even sure I WILL come back, since LICC seemed too much like it should be "The Jon and JD Show", storyline-wise, instead of a group effort, when I quit.

KAM, if you still have those questions that you mentioned in your post back on the 15th, mail them to the address in my initials.

By KAM on Monday, September 30, 2002 - 2:45 am:

Frankly when you said you were taking a break from burnout, I wondered if you'd ever be back.
Didn't realize it had been almost two months, but I'm lousy at estimating time.

By Nawdle on Wednesday, October 02, 2002 - 3:33 pm:

I'm bringing back Jadlad anyway despite what has happened in my private life. I just don't know when.

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, October 02, 2002 - 4:28 pm:

I may be gone for awhile in November. Jury duty. So I may just send Banshee Squad off on an emergency resuce mission the Spidership can't get to cause they have their own problems or something. Or whatever, I'm sure I'll think of something.

By KAM on Thursday, October 03, 2002 - 5:47 am:

How about having someone say, "Wow! I can't believe the whole squadron got jury duty at the same time." :O

By Josh M on Thursday, October 03, 2002 - 4:41 pm:

I believe that sending squadrons of fighters off is the captain's power. Especially which squadron. But, okay. sighs ;)

I like it KAM.

By Old LICC Fan on Saturday, October 05, 2002 - 9:54 pm:

Seems to me what the storyline needs is a real conflict or villain on both sides of the rifts. Something exciting, since it seems like this could be a real wrap-up thing real fast.

By Murray the Hideous Demonic Nemesis of the Anti-Murray on Sunday, October 06, 2002 - 5:41 pm:

Could I make a particularly EEEEEVILLL villain?

By A K-NIT TV-47 Viewer on Sunday, October 06, 2002 - 10:27 pm:

I doubt it. You're not doing very well at making a particularly EEEEEVILLL Hideous Demonic Skull.

By The guy who no one has noticed has been gone for about two months on Monday, October 07, 2002 - 8:57 am:

How about I unleash the awesome fury, the undeniable horror, and the downright rude nastiness of....

DARTH TANTRUM!!

By Murray the Hideous Demonic Skull of EEEEEVILLL on Monday, October 07, 2002 - 11:42 am:

Oh go on, please? I feel I can add to the role in so many ways!

Here's my CV.

By The Same K-NIT TV-47 Viewer on Monday, October 07, 2002 - 12:15 pm:

** Here's my CV. **

Well, that's accurate. It's empty!

By Brian Webber on Monday, October 07, 2002 - 1:51 pm:

Have we learned NOTHING from watching 'My Cousin Vinny?' It is ENTIRELY possible to have tension, without a villian!

By Josh M on Monday, October 07, 2002 - 2:32 pm:

yeah, but it seems that we're not very good at it.

By Josh M on Monday, October 07, 2002 - 2:33 pm:

and no, i've never seen that

By Murray, the Hideous Demonic Skull of EEEEEVILLL on Monday, October 07, 2002 - 3:48 pm:

You're supposed to *take* the CV and read it! I can't physically hand it to you - you need to take it off me and read it!

By Electron on Wednesday, October 09, 2002 - 3:22 pm:

Sorry Mr.Bond for stealing all those quotes!

By A Different K-NIT TV-47 Viewer and Bond fan on Wednesday, October 09, 2002 - 4:19 pm:

Well, that was certainly worse than listening to the Beatles without earmuffs.

By George on Thursday, October 10, 2002 - 4:17 pm:

Don't make me come down there!

By Paul on Thursday, October 10, 2002 - 4:20 pm:

Yeah, show 'im who's boss, our kid!

By Ringo on Friday, October 11, 2002 - 3:29 am:

I happen to like earmuffs, me.

By Yet another K-NIT TV-47 Viewer on Friday, October 11, 2002 - 12:10 pm:

I really enjoy reading other people's inane comments. You know, LICC without these comments would be like the Beatles without Yoko.

By Still another K-NIT TV-47 Viewer on Friday, October 11, 2002 - 12:13 pm:

You'd rather read Murray instead?

By Murray the hideous demonic yet misunderstood skull of EEEEEVILLL on Friday, October 11, 2002 - 12:42 pm:

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!

I knew you loved me!

By Teaser Trailer on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 - 11:38 am:

Extremely tense, dramatic music. The trailer opens with a view of deep space. That ever-familiar announcer's voice plays over the soundtrack.

"In a galaxy...where machines are sentient..."

The camera begins to track downward, ala A New Hope.

"A great evil...is about to return."

A planet comes into view. A large desert world, looking like a peach-colored Mars. An immense sandstorm is sweeping across the planet, from north-east to south-west, one huge front.

"The question is...can it be stopped?"

The camera rotates around the planet, to reveal that one full third of the world is metallic, rather like a Borg Death Star, with fleets of starships hovering around.

The camera shot changes. The warp-zoom shot from the LICC theme sequence is used, but this time, the camera jumps to warp itself, following the Spider and intercepting.

"A team of heroes will be faced with an impossible mission..."

The screen goes black...and Taconator's mad, metallic cackle is heard.

White words, Arial font, appear on the screen.

L.I.C.C. IV

Revenge of the Machine

This Winter

By KAM on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 - 6:33 am:

Well, that screws up my Funky Horror LICCfic.

Figures. Wait over a year for the guy to do a d@mn Taconator storyline, finally give up & plot out a LICCfic, then he brings him back.

Serves me right trying to tie one of my characters to someone else's character.

By JD the dumb on Friday, October 25, 2002 - 5:32 pm:

Aw heck.

KAM, I have to apologize. Email me and we'll work somethin' out.

By Electron on Friday, October 25, 2002 - 9:19 pm:

It isn't winter yet. J

By KAM on Sunday, October 27, 2002 - 5:51 am:

If I can't finish the LICCFic before your story begins I'll just have the Continuity Police show up at the end & erase the League's memory, so it won't be a nit when nobody says, "Taconator? But how did he escape from the Magic Clown Shoes?"

By Padawan Observer on Sunday, October 27, 2002 - 1:51 pm:

Actually, after PD Insane and Enesku arrived in LICC2 - Enesku's first appearance, it is mentioned that PD Insane was in jail and Enesku helped him escape. At the time, that was what I intended to happen in 'It's the Tamarian Way', but it took a while to write and I eventually decided to remove that scene, forgetting I had mentioned it on the board.

By Continuity Police on Monday, October 28, 2002 - 3:54 am:

All right, Mr. Padawan Observer, come along peaceful now.

By Brian Webber on Friday, November 01, 2002 - 1:47 pm:

Oh man I just thought of somethign totally cool. With one stone I can explain Lopez's absensce, do my jury duty, vote (jury duty is on Election day), AND get a decent fic for the LICC Reading Room! When the current storyline ends, just say that all crewmembers are accounted for except Lopez and his second-in-command-to-be Brad Plevyak! And don't find them until I come back. :)

By A Gentle Reminder on Tuesday, November 05, 2002 - 2:10 pm:

To BF:

The Spidermobile isn't in another universe, there are just a plethora of rifts to the K-NIT dimension contained within the ship itself.
