Okay folks, let's get to some nitpicking. In the episode Plunder of the Sun, a crucial plot point concerns an Incan manuscript. Problem is that IIRC the Incas didn't have a written language. Otherwise a good episode that starred Paul Frees.
Also, the credits said that the story was by a David Dodge. Has anyone ever heard of him?
Is this the same David Dodge that wrote "To Catch a Thief"?
I haven't heard that particular episode, but I've read a few books on radio programs, and I believe that is it the very same David Dodge. I don't know if he wrote any other episodes of Escape, though.
This would be the novel "To Catch a Thief" that was made into a movie by Hitchcock, actually.
I liked "Escape" a lot. Anyone remember the episode "Evening Primrose?" It was about a guy that was low on cash, so he lived in a shopping mall, and well...there are LOTS of other people with the same idea. It turns rather frightening.
My (sort of) complaint is that virtually every lead role (during the late '40s, at least) appeared to be played by either William Conrad or Paul Frees.
On some episodes I've heard, Conrad was also the announcer. Sometimes played a character in the same show.
Last night, I was listening to an episode of Escape entitled The Footprint. At the beginning, it's announced that it's based on a story by Gouverneur Morris. Does anyone have any idea if this is the same one who was one of the signers of the Constitution, or just some other guy with the same name?
