Hey, yeah! I loved that episode where he spent the whole hour proving that Fibber McGee couldn't possibly have gotten all that stuff in his closet because...oh, sorry, wrong Luigi.
Seriously...I know the TV version of this one is yet another example of odd 'ethnic-type' casting (J.Carroll Naish!) and flopped largely for that reason. So I'm curious - was Luigi on radio played by an actual Italian?
Naish also played him on the radio IIRC.
I remember one hilarious commercial for Wrigley's about this show.
ANNOUNCER: We sponsor "Life with Luigi" because we think it's a pleasant, relaxing program...just like Wrigley's is a pleasant, relaxing gum!
Sheesh!
I know. But according to accepted wisdom at the time, chewing gum was supposed to have a good effect on the nerves...kinda the way tobacco smoke was supposed to be good for the lungs.
TRIVIA: One of the voices for "Life With Luigi" would later do the voice of Fred Flintstone....who was he?
Alan Reed.
"AHHHHH, LUIIIIIGIII, MY FRIEND. MY FRIEND, LUIIIIGIII. MY FRIEND."
Can't miss him.
