There were many different Sherlock Holmes programs from the age of classic radio. The two most famous are the John Gielegud/Ralph Richardson series and the American counterpart the Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce series, although there were a handful of others. The Gielegud series concerned itself mainly with straight adaptations of Doyle's tales, while the Rathbone show went in more for brand-new original stories.
NIT: The Rathbone/Bruce show, during its run, presented two completely different versions of "The Amateur Mendicant Society", an unrecorded case referred to in Doyle's original writings.
