I was listening to an episode of this last night. One of the first things I noticed was a lack of contractions. It made it (I thought) sound a bit unnatural. My mom tells me this grammatical oddity is fairly typical of Damon Runyon.

Well yes, read any of Runyon's short stories and you'll see that the radio scripters were trying to
capture his style. As does "Guys and Dolls."

Just listened to the episode Hold 'em Yale, and must say it's really weird having four guys so clueless about football.
