As David Brent, manager of the Slough branch of Wernham-Hogg paper merchants, receives news of a future merger with the Swindon branch, he tries to alleviate rumours of redundancies among his underlings. We see a new office member, Ricky, being shown around the office and introduced to the many characters and, er, quirks.
