Ok,out of curiosity but I'd like to see how the
current series Smallville contrasts with the
'80s series Superboy.Any similarities?
The only thing I remember as being the same was that there was a Clark Kent character and a Lana Lang character. Everything else was completely different. (Although they might have added a Lex Luthor character as well later in the run (I'm not sure)
I don't remember it being set in Smallville, but rather at the college that Clark and Lana attended along with Perry White's son (who was played very much like Jimmy Olsen in Lois and Clark)
It was on for 4 seasons. The guy who played Clark in season 1 left for reasons unknown, and the role was recast for the other 3 years.
There were also two actors who played Lex. He was first just a regular college-age kid, who was a preppy thorn in Clark's side. Then they aged him considerably, again for reasons unknown, and he was played by that guy who played the Tallarian captain (father of Jono) in that 4th season episode of TNG.
I believe the first actor who played superboy had been fired due to drunk driving conviction. Or it may have just been a contract dispute.
Didn't one of the actors who played Superboy appear as a Vulcan in Star Trek: Voyager. I believe the one who was going through Ponn Farr.
Did the Superboy ever deal with the Red Kryptonite?
Art Vandelay: Didn't one of the actors who played Superboy appear as a Vulcan in Star Trek: Voyager. I believe the one who was going through Ponn Farr.
Luigi Novi: Alexander Enberg??? No way. If you're talking about the series that ran from 1988-1992, Enberg would've been only 16 when it premiered. (Not inaccurate for the character, but too young given the way much older actors are usually cast for characters that age.)
The Superboy on that series was played by John Haymes Newton from 1988-1989, and Gerard Christopher from 1989-1992.
Enberg did, however, appear on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, playing Toaster #1 in I've Got A Crush On You, the sixth episode of the first season.
I read somewhere that Mr Newton had accumulated a lot of speeding tickets. I've also heard that the makers weren't 100% happy with his work anyway. So nothing set in stone there, really.
