Good to have Smallville back.

Good episode. Just a few things stand out.

A brief scene with Pete at the end would have been nice. Last we saw, he was knocked unconscious by Tina, and had what looked like a pretty nasty bruise on his head. We can assume he recovered, but showing him with a bandage just to show he was ok would have been appropriate.

The ship is functional without the key? It saved Clark's life, but there's been no indication that the Kents found the key that was lost during the twisters.

After a season and a half of "meteor rock" induced monsters terrorizing Smallville, one would think Lana would think twice before putting that kryptonite necklace on again.

Which makes me think, what kryptonite power would Lana attain? Maybe working in a coffee shop combined with kryptonite would give her the ability to stay up alllllllllllllll night long. I'm guessing the inevitable negative side effect would involve her killing people for some reason.

The scene with Whitney's maniac look, a baseball bat, and a sudden splattering of blood on his face...

yuck.

Lana did have a meteor rock power in last season's "Obscura." She was able to see through the eyes of another person. It was a specific person, and when he died, so much for the power!
And she seems to be one of the only people who didn't go nutso after getting their mutant power.

Whitney's mom has had a really bad year. She's lost both her husband and her son, been terrorized by a crazed girl, had at least two trucks destroyed which she probably hasn't finished paying for yet, and on top of that, is left to run the family business alone. She needs counseling bad.

Great point, Brian. Unfortunately, it looks like "Smallville" is going to start piling up collateral damage much like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". I hope they actually work Whitney's mom into future plots, struggling to cope, the Kents stepping in to help with the business, etc. The biggest failing of "Buffy" is that, afetr 5 years of high-school kids getting killed, loved ones resurrecting from the dead, and general mayhem, who the heck would live there? Sunnydale ought to be a ghost town (literally). I'd hate to see Smallville end up the same way.
