I liked this episode a lot more than I thought I was going to. We've speculated before about Lionel's blindness. He claims he regained his sight only a short time ago, which leads us to ask, what has he seen and what hasn't he? It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds.

If Lex and Lucas were in fact in collusion the whole time, then that means Lex must have okayed Lucas's attack on Johnathan in the barn. Ouch. Maybe he is turning to the dark side.

I am not certain at what point they jioned forces. It could have been after Lucas attacked Jonathan and Lex was able to convince him to jion his side so he could show Lucas how little Lionel thought of him.

You called it, Brian, Lionel was pulling a fast one. I thought he might have regained his sight after getting shot and falling over the railing in "Suspect". I'm surprised Lex didn't toss things at Lionel on a regular basis to check for this.

Why does Clark need a job? The farm not keeping him busy enough?

I guess Clark and Lex kissed and made up between "Rush" and this ep. The last we saw them speaking, Lex was telling Clark not to make him an enemy, and Clark was threatening Lex.

What was Clark's problem with Lucas when Lex introduced them? There shouldn't have been static until Lucas took over Lex' fortune.

What happened to Lex' business smarts? He orchestrated the formation of Lexcorp to buy his father's fertilizer plant in a podunk town in Kansas, and now his father has gained controling interest in Lexcorp, and seized all Lex' assets because all of Lex' money is tied up in Lexcorp. I expected something better from Lex.

Naturally, houseguest Lex slings dung in the Kent barn. But really arrogant of Jonathan to let Lex work alone while he drinks coffee and watches out the window. I'd expect them to work side-by-side, and for Jonathan to have the conversation about Lex' time on the farm in Montana. Would have been a better bonding moment, Clark and Lex get plenty of time together.

Why oh why does Lucas care about Clark enough to have the exchange in the Talon? Smallville isn't exactly Lucas' speed, so why is he hanging around?

I'd agree with kyjada, Lex convinced Lucas to change his plans after the exchange in the Kent barn. There would have been no reason for that if they were in cahoots sooner. Jonathan never saw who hit him, and Lex could have met with Lucas in Metropolis anytime.

I like that Clark didn't reveal his presence in the Luthercorp building (except for the melted vent cover). There's no way he could have explained how he got to Metropolis so fast, when Lionel took a helicopter to get there.

OK, so Lucas sided with Lex in the end. What changed that Lionel gave Lex his money back? Lionel still owns Lexcorp, right? So Lionel owns 90% of his fortune, Lucas owns 10% (his inheritance, which they established early in the ep), and Lex still has nothing. What did I miss?

Lionel gave Lex control of Lexcorp again. Happened at the very end.

It looked like Lionel got to Metropolis in the chopper faster than Clark. Seems unlikely.

By LUIGI NOVI on Saturday, May 10, 2003 - 5:27 pm:

It's plausible if Clark had to make stops to duck behind objects to keep from being seen, and/or if he doesn't know the exact way to the city by foot.

By Art Vandelay on Sunday, May 11, 2003 - 3:49 am:

He's ran to the city and that building several times before. He shouldn't need to duck; he moves too fast to be seen by the naked eye.

The motion blur is visible. (Unless that's only for the home audience.)

By Art Vandelay on Monday, May 12, 2003 - 5:28 am:

I assume it's for the home audience. There was a party in S1 where he buzzed around the room right in front of ppl; I think to catch items which were in the process of being broken by the party-goers.

It may be visible at long range, if that makes sense. There was a shot of him shooting thru a field from the distance and it seemed likely that if you were watching at a perpendicular angle from a distance, you'd see the blur.

I'm surprised Lex didn't toss things at Lionel on a regular basis to check for this.

An establishing scene of some sort (even a flashback) would have been nice to confirm this theory, but maybe Lex knew Lionel was faking it?

Maybe that's why Lex was insisting on picking the assistant for his father; to find someone who would do a little spying for him. And of course, Lionel probably saw that coming, which is why he did his own hiring later.

Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Nice bit of acting (or directing) - after Lucas discovers that Lionel can see, in the next scene where they appear together, it looks like Lionel keeps up his "blind" act for a few seconds before remembering that Lucas knows.

This was a great episode. Sadly the character of Lucas was forgotten after this episode.
