Worst epiosde ever!

By Duke of Earl Grey on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 8:41 pm:

I was considering watching this episode anyway (with the fast-forward button ever at my fingertips...) just in case any crucial bits of information pertaining to Smallville's ongoing plot lines happened to be imbedded within the dross. Should I even bother?

By Brian Webber on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 10:22 pm:

Duke: Actually, yes. There are more than a few key continuity moments in this ep that I also was looking forward to fast forwarding through.

My primary complaint isn't with the episode so much itself but in that it's kind of offensive if your a Wiccan, or an ex-Wiccan like myself (I hold no ill towards it, it's not like being a recovering Catholic or anything, but the stereotypes still annoy me),

What is this, Smallville, or Charmed?

I don't mean to be indelicate, but just where the hell does Lois get off? Just where precisely does she buy the level of arrogant presumption with which she drives up to the Kent's farm and declares that she's going to use their barn for Chloe's party without their permission?? Does she get it mail-order? Does it come in a jar?

When Isabelle/Lana flings Jason out the window, Clark races outside to catch him, but the injuries Jason would've sustained had he hit the ground would just as well be sustained by Clark catching him.

When the witches fling farm tools at Clark in the barn, Clark uses his heat vision not to melt them, but to deflect them. While I admit it was a cool scene, since when does he have this ability? This sounds more like telekinesis than heat vision.

And does Clark just stand there and let the three witches throw whatever they want at him? Why doesn't he just rush up to them and knock them out?

Smallville's usually great for continuity. That said, I was disappointed that Lex's fondness for the piano wasn't touched upon in previous episodes. When Isabella put her spell on him to make him play nonstop, it really felt they just needed to give Lex something to do in this outing.

Chloe's now officially 18. The driving age in Smallville must be 14, cause she's been driving since the first season.

By Josh M on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 12:57 pm:

How early in the first season did we see her driving? I'm pretty sure that in Kansas, you can get a drivers license at 15, albeit one that restricts you to driving to school, work, and home. Unless you live on a farm. Farmers can drive at 14. And I don't think Chloe lives on one of those.

By Brian Lombard on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 7:30 pm:

In episode #5, "Cool," which aired on 11/13/01, she drove Clark and Pete to an outdoor party at Crater Lake.

By Duke of Earl Grey on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 9:41 pm:

Then if one season equals a year (which it apparently does), Chloe had just turned 15 at that point.

I think they did, last season IIRC.

(Again) they waste the opportunity of going deeper,
and get the whole mess resolved within minutes.

Best quote:
When Martha finds the dessous in the barn.
Clark: "It was magic!"
Martha: " i am sure it was."

By Brian Webber on Saturday, November 13, 2004 - 1:14 pm:

Why did they even include the explanation? It could've just faded out on Johnathan holding up the bra and Clark looking like a kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar, thus ending on a laugh.

Just read that the season 4 DVD release will have audio commentary on this episode from Lois, Lana, and Chloe. Trying to make lemons from lemonade?
