Scare

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Smallville: Season Four: Scare
Scheduled air date: 01 December, 2004
By LUIGI NOVI on Wednesday, December 01, 2004 - 8:21 pm:

Where’d Chloe get the Luthorcorp ID that she used to get into the plant? Her father? He hasn’t worked there for about a year, which means his ID would’ve either been turned in, or its validity removed from the company’s computer.

Clark’s heat vision now has a red and yellow signature to it.

Comic Book Reference of the Week:
Lex as President. The only thing missing was Pete Ross standing next to him as the V.P. That high altitude shot of the nukes going off all over the planet was cool. But wasn’t the shot of them being launched (and that detonation shot too, possibly) from T3?

And what is UP with that all-white getup he was wearing? Is he supposed to be the President, or Mark Twain?

By Brian Lombard on Thursday, December 02, 2004 - 6:30 am:

The fantasy sequence of Lex as President was lifted directly from the first season episode "Hourglass." In that episode, it was not Lex's dream, but the vision seen by a psychic woman in a nursing home. The vision was so powerful, it caused her heart to stop!

Incidentally, the scene was shot on the set of "The West Wing."

Speaking of Lex's nightmare, what exactly is going on? It's kind of hard to make out the land masses, but it sure looks like Kansas is nuking the rest of the US!

Speaking of Lex, he says that he was arranging for Jason to get a job becasue he felt guilty for getting him fired... I'm sorry, did they ever actually reveal WHY he did that and I just missed it?

By Biggy on Thursday, December 02, 2004 - 10:44 am:

So who was in Lionel's limo? The only people who come to mind would be Dr. Swann, Bridgette Crosby, or perhaps Morgan Edge.

By The Undesirable Element on Thursday, December 02, 2004 - 8:31 pm:

How about Jason's mother?

TUE

Because he was trying to help Clark. He figured take out Lana's boyfriend, Clark's chances with Lana improve.

Good one. Could be Mrs. Teague.

Except that Clark said he didn't believe that that was Lex's actual reason, and Lex never he was wrong. Of course, that doesn't explain anything...

By LL on Friday, December 03, 2004 - 11:59 pm:

I just meant that it was his surface motivation. As with all things Lex, there's always some other reason hidden under the surface that we don't get to know, other than he'll turn out evil someday.

This one aired Dec 1st?
Huh.
Normally I can obtain a copy the day after but this time no sign of it on BT.
Here in Germany it won't be on tv for maybe another 15 months and then in awful dubbing.

:( I waited 2 weeks and want it now...
Wait, :) its on the ed.

Yeah, I'm pretty familiar with that aspect of Lex's character :) It's just that the mention of it was shrugged off so quickly, and no one on the show seemed to be wondering about it any more. I couldn't tell if I'd missed something or if the writers just didn't care that much about the twists they threw at us before (even though such a thing is COMPLETELY unheard of on this show...)

How so? They've remembered that Lex has to get his blood purified or whatever every so many hours and make sure that's followed up occasionally.

What? They've ignored it completely since the premiere?

...

Never mind.

I finally got around to watching this one. Pretty good, esp. compared to the last few weeks.

I really liked seeing Lex's dream/nightmare, and the flashes from Hourglass. Did the warheads remind anyone of Terminator 3, though? (It obviously reminded Luigi of that.)

The final moment was pretty interesting. Though I'm starting to roll my eyes at these episodes that just stop in the middle of conversations so we're left to wonder about the person's answer. Poor Chloe though.

Speculation: It seemed really really obvious that it was Margot Kidder's character that got Lionel out of jail. First his cell mate, now him. Part of me hopes that it is, since I think Lionel working with her would be pretty cool, but part of me hopes that I'm wrong since it seems that it's Crosby, yet the creators try to hide it.

Tvtome.com confirms that the footage with the nukes was pulled from T3.
