Luigi: you posted under the wrong episode. The episode last night was "Unsafe"

FRIEND FOR WORF OF THE WEEK:
They really keep reaching for reasons to bring Lois back into the picture. She likes hanging out with Chloe? This reason seems contrieved. It's worse than the excuses they gave to have Worf show up in the last 2 TNG movies.

SHOW OFF OF THE WEEK:
Clark "rescues" Alicia by catching the car as it flies off the ramp. Wouldn't the better idea have been to come up behind it and slow it down by grabbing the back of the car?

GULLIBLE SUPERHERO OF THE WEEK:
Along the same lines, why did Clark even rush off to save Alicia? Why didn't he just say over the phone, "You dumb whore! Transport yourself out of there!"

QUALITY REACTIONS OF THE WEEK:
Chloe's reaction to seeing Clark's powers were stellar. That's about the reaction I'd expect from her. Not completely freaked out, but just that look of 'the whole world is upside-down'.

I also thought Clark's reactions to Alicia's death were genuine and realistic. Tom Welling isn't the best actor in the world, but I thought he did a great job with these scenes.

SON OF THE B!TCH OF THE WEEK:
For an interesting theory (not spoilers) about Jason and his mother, check out the board for Jason Teague under the "Characters" area of the Smallville Kitchen Sink.

FORGOTTEN POWER OF THE WEEK:
When the villain (did he even have a name?) puts the cloth over Alicia's mouth, why didn't Alicia just transport away?

OVERALL OPINION OF THE WEEK:
Well this was certainly the interesting episode. I enjoyed it. The Freak of the Week / Real Killer was REAAAAAAALY obvious, but that really wasn't the focus of the episode. I may be mistaken, but I think Clark is getting his first ideas about developing a second identity. This episode will certainly have effects on later episodes. I'm especially intrigued to find out who helped Lionel out of jail. Here I thought it was Mrs. Teague, but that doesn't seem to be the case now.

Agreed. I admit, though, that I got a brief mental flashback to the first Superman movie at Clark's reaction. It was an intense moment, but the movie geek in me was still thinking "Okay, now he spins the world around backwards..."

You know, that was the first Alicia episode where she kept her clothes on for the full hour.

These FOTW kids are becoming like the TOS Redshirts... anytime one of Clark or Chloe's new "friends" show up outta nowhere you know they gonna be killin SOMEONE by the end of the episode.

I assumed it was whatever her name is that's being played by Margot Kidder. You know, the one who works (er.. worked I guess) for Dr. Swann. Didn't she get Lionel's cellmate out? I assumed they're all in something together. NOTE: This is not a spoiler, just what I've assumed based on already aired eps.

Good episode, IMO. It really did pack quite a lot. Alicia's swan song, Chloe's discovery, and a FOTW.

I did like Clark's reaction to finding Alicia. Until the second scream that is.

And I was completely surprised by Alicia's death. Didn't see that one coming.

Just a question, how long have the Kents had a dog? I hadn't noticed it before this episode.

There was a dog?

Clark seems to ignore a really obvious way to prove that Alicia is innocent. When she transports herself, there is a bright flash of green light accompanied by a loud WHOOSH. When Lana and Jason are attacked, there's no flash, no WHOOSH. Even if no one else is convinced by this, it should have cleared up Clark's doubts. Right?

By Anon on Friday, March 18, 2005 - 11:06 pm:

Maybe the flash woosh is just for the audience, and isn't something really visible in the world of the story, kinda like how no one ever sees Clark's heat vision shooting out, but we do.
