From page 74 of next weeks January 30-February 5, 2006 TV Guide:

"For all of the grieving Clark and crew are doing over last week's tragedy, there's also a ton of injokes flying around after a new crimefighter sweeps into town. Turns out Supe may not have been the first hero to hide his identity behind a pair of glasses and a klutzy persona."

just saw it -- it was o.k.
somehow I expect the "dark avenger" to pop up in Gotham city soon.

And is it just me or does anyone else find it convienient that the Luthurs are behind every shady deal between Smallville and Metropolis?

By Ryan Whitney on Friday, February 03, 2006 - 1:27 pm:

Well, if Lionel Luthor didn't already know that Clark wasn't just "an ordinary farm boy", Lionel should know this by the end of this episode. In addition, Clark should know that Lionel knows.

And I hope Martha accepts the governor's forthcoming appointment of her to take that Senate seat.

By uno-man on Friday, February 03, 2006 - 7:28 pm:

my guess is either she will become senator, and Lex will take over at some point... Or she will give up the seat and Lex will become the youngest president in history. In the WB universe anyway.

As far as Lionel goes, I assumed he knew way back when he pretended to be blind.

By the time Lex becomes president, it'll be the CW universe.

First, I must admit that I stopped watching this show 2 seasons ago, and that I'm just killing a little time drifting through this board. I'd read of Jonathan Kent's death in TV Guide a few weeks back, and I was aware that he and Lex were running for Senate. But Ryan's comment made me laugh, because it really happened.

In 2000, Democrat Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan ran for the US Senate in an attempt to gain the seat held by Republican Missouri Senator John Ashcroft. On October 16, 2000 Governor Carnahan and his son were killed in a plane crash. With no time to appoint someone else to the Democratic ticket, the election proceeded with Governor Carnahan on the ticket.

On November 4, 2000 Governor Carnahan won the Senate seat.

Afterward, the acting Governor of Missouri appointed Jean Carnahan, Mel's wife, to serve her husband's Senate term. John Ashcroft was later chosen by George W Bush to become the US Attorney General.

Smallville's producers have created a mini-series spin-off of Vengance.
