Now here's an interesting appearance from the comics. I wonder how faithful to the source material Victor Stone's appearance will be? I'm really looking forward to this one.

But wouldn't this make the Teen Titans around the same age as "Superman"? always thought they were younger, in both timeline AND age.

but what do you want with

By LUIGI NOVI on Thursday, December 29, 2005 - 12:51 am:

Well, first of all, Victor Stone never seemed like a "teenager" to me. Both in decades past and especially now, he looks like an adult.

But if Clark is now 18 or so, Victor could be say, ten years old? (Granted, he probably won't be in this episode, but they could do it if they wanted to).

Then again, they made Bart Allen only a few years younger than Clark, which would make Bart in his twenties by the time he becomes Impulse and Clark becomes Superman, and older when he becomes Kid Flash, so obviously, it's not like the creators haven't already thrown the comics' continuity out the window. :)

It should be worth noting that, if I recall, even in the 80's Cyborg was at least out of high school when he was part of the Teen Titans. I'd have to do more digging than is physically possible at this time, but somewhere I actually have an old Titans comic where he talks about his origin in detail.

I don't follow 'zines or fan-sites, so is it confirmed that this will be a Smallville version of Cyborg from the Titans, or is the name a coincedence?

According to the Jan. 9 TV Guide, the character, who is referred to as "Victor Stone--aka Cyborg" will be played by Lee Thompson Young.

Hey, at least they didn't try to tell us that female super-hero a few eps back was Wonder Woman.

By LUIGI NOVI on Friday, February 10, 2006 - 6:44 pm:

Well, I don't recall WW ever wearing a skull-and-crossbones insignia. Or a mask. :)

By anon on Friday, February 10, 2006 - 9:41 pm:

Exactly, just as I don't recall Bart Allen being the Flash or being relatively close to Clark Kent's age... Or being a petty thief...

I'm surprised at their restraint at not trying to tie generic female crimefighter into DC's most famous female superhero.

That's all I was saying.

As far as episodes that adapt material from the comics go, I really liked this episode. After Aqua, and now this one, maybe the creators have learned how to do it right.

Smallville Screwy Physics of the Week
Yes, I know, most comic books and their adaptations have this stuff, but I’m just pointing it out…The only way Victor could stop Lana’s jeep, and not even be moved an inch by it, would be if (for starters, at least), he weighed more than the car. A lot more.

COMIC BOOK REFERENCE OF THE WEEK:
YES! Although the cybernetic armor Victor has isn’t exoskeletal (as it is in the comics), in the shot of Clark using his X-Ray vision in the second-to-last scene of Act 1, it appears that his armor, specifically that on the left side of his skull, his left eye, and his chin, was made to mimic the shape of his comics armor! Nice touch! :)

I also like how they kept his oil-like blood!

Up until now, Lex has been depicted as being somewhat shy of being full-blown evil, but now, a witness, Victor, has informed Clark that Lex has now knowingly experimented on an unwilling human being, a significant change in the status quo that I hope the creators wont’ try to reset.

Seeing Clark and Victor’s camaraderie as Clark saved Victor, and the way they escaped together with the equal ability to jump off a building, was a nice moment.

Wow, Lionel was in league with Martha’s blackmailer? I’m shocked! Really!

Not.

By MythicFox on Friday, February 17, 2006 - 1:52 am:

Y'know, there's one thing I don't get... The folks looking for Victor find him in Clark's barn. Now, maybe it was by following Lana. Maybe Lex's security system has a special setting where it goes "Okay, Clark's just barged in, that means he's got what we're looking for and he's ticked about it."

But Clark, Lana and Victor get out of there, and Clark thinks the last place they'd look would be The Talon? Jeez, no wonder the Justice League needs Batman.

So, we should start taking bets... is Lionel doing this to just try and get on Martha's good side in some twisted courting ritual, or does he just feel like going out of his way to screw with unfriendly political influences?

Good episode. I have yet to see all of it, but what I saw, I liked. These superhero guest star eps turn out pretty well. Flash, Aquaman, and now Cyborg. I've liked them all. Hopefully we get one or two more before the series ends (unless this is the final season).

More Lex being bad. I love it. Rosenbaum can really bring the bad.

I loved the final line of the episode. I think Lionel will keep Clark's secret. Both for Martha and because it undermines his son.

MythicFox: Maybe Lex's security system has a special setting where it goes "Okay, Clark's just barged in, that means he's got what we're looking for and he's ticked about it."
Heh heh heh. Hilarious. And brilliant.

I'm glad that Lionel Luthor is back in the picture. He's probably my favorite character. My interest in the show always increases when Lionel turns up.

However, I have to agree with one Smallville reviewer. Martha's behavior toward Lionel is baffling. Here's a quote:
"Lionel spurned her dead husband. Lionel threatened to expose Clark's adoption. Lionel MURDERED people, and as of last week, she knows he contract kills. Lionel has placed her in danger several times as his assistant. Lionel, in Clark's body, tried to SEDUCE her before attacking her. She knows this. Lionel attempted to murder his own son, and almost got Chloe."

I have to say, he makes an excellent point. What the heck is she thinking?

Anyway, back to the episode.

I think how Cyborg was portrayed here was actually closer to Metallo than anything else. Of course, my only knowledge of Cyborg comes from a few Teen Titans episodes that I've seen.

So Clark and Lana are apparently still together. I was under the impression that their relationship ended in "Reckoning."

I liked the main Cyborg plot, but some of the subplots are starting to make very little sense. I don't know anymore. I give it a B-. Fairly arbitrary, but what the he||.

I don't think Clark and Lana are actually "together" at this point (although I don't think they're "broken up" either). I think the two are romantically "separated". That said, they haven't really decided to just be friends, or to make themselves presently available to be with other people romantically.

THEY WERE ON A BREAK!!!

By Will on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 10:45 am:

Where did Victor get the picture of his girlfriend that he showed Clark? He escaped the lab in his spandex outfit, which didn't look like it had any pockets, then he found clothes at the hospital to wear. He never went home to get the picture, so how'd he manage that?

With Clark barging into Lex's mansion and demanding answers regarding Victor (out of the blue, since Clark shouldn't even know that Victor's alive), wouldn't Lex automatically think that Clark was hiding Victor at the Kent farm?

Where was the explosion on the DVD that Martha was given showing Clark rescuing someone (Lana?) Anybody know? I haven't seen every episode, so I'm wondering if it's a scene from a couple years ago.

By anon on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 10:00 pm:

Didn't the scientist that freed him give him the picture? Maybe he didn't have any pockets, but he still could've slipped it in there someplace.

By uno-man on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 - 11:55 am:

Two things...

WARNING; THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS....

1) the explosion was during a recent episode, can't remember the title but it was the one where the former cop and his friend shot Lex and demanded to know where the ship the two Kryptonians came in went. Lana told them she could take them to it -- the former cop wanted to blow it up, but the ship was gone and during a fight the bomb went off, luckily Clark was there. Unfortunatly so was a video camera.

2) During the beginning of the episode the scientist that freed Victor gave him the picture, before he left.

By Biggy on Friday, August 04, 2006 - 5:07 am:

When Lana wrecks the car, the gash on her head is over her left eye. For the remainder of the episode, the bandage and the scar are over her right eye.
