Hypnotic

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Smallville: Season Five: Hypnotic

A good episode. I'm glad that Clark finally decided to grow a pair and end it with Lana. He's absolutely right; he has to quit screwing with her.

The whole Milton Fine sub-story was a bit odd, but looks very promising.

I don't quite understand why Lex bought his story. Lex knows that Fine and the spaceship disappeared at the same time. Why would Lex not wonder why Fine doesn't know where the ship is? Something just didn't seem right about that.

Odd that Lionel revealing that he knew Clark's Kryptonian name was in the "last time on Smallville" segment, but Lionel was not in the episode.

I know this is a family show, but I'd be curious to know what it is about intercourse that Clark suspects would be dangerous. Super semen? The pelvic crush? What aspect does Clark not think he can control?

Why doesn't Lana wonder why Clark would call her just to have her walk in on him and Simone?

Why did Lex return to Smallville and leave Fine alone in Honduras?

I liked that all aspects of this plot played into the larger plot arcs. I've grown somewhat impatient with the weekly throwaway stories, so this was very welcome.

"YES! WE ARE ALL INDIVIDUALS!"
"I'm not."

Yawn. More Reset Button.

I've got a theory on the Fine/Luthor thing, maybe Lex didn't trust Fine and felt he was dangerous, so he "pretended" he thought Fine was some government agent...did you see the look on Fines face when Lex accused him of being an agent? it was almost as if he was suprised, and on another note Lex problebly thought if he confronted Fine there in the jungle without any means to defend himself (security types) he'd most likely never be seen again. Just MY theory, Lex is smarter than to just walk up to an unknown without backup.

As far as this Clark and Lana "soap opra", I've gotten to where I'm just ignoring it in favor of what else is going on. I am very interested in knowing how Lionel knows Clark as Kal-El.

How Was A Reset Button Used? Did I Miss Something?

Clark and Lana's relationship.

Didn't they break up for good in this episode? I admit i missed the last part of this because of a "severe weather update" on my local WB channel. Did I miss something????

Not really, Clark felt they should break up--yet again! because Lana saw clark lip-locked with Simone. And he felt this should be it-forever-
Until next time.
My opinion is he just doesn't trust her at all..

I'm more interested in the "Brainiac" stuff, and how Lionel knows Clark as Kal-EL.

Chloe asks Clark if he really did have sex with Simone and he replies 'no', but I doubt it. How could he say no to Simone after Lana shows up? He wasn't resistant to the gem's hypnotism later on, since he was about to kill Lex, and it was Simone's idea to fool around, so she wouldn't change her mind after Lana left. I think Clark was just trying to cover an embarassing liason with someone he didn't love.
As for the so-called 'pelvic crush', Clark has had years to tone it down, as it were, such as when he shakes hands, picks up a glass, etc.
And who says Simone didn't do all the work? nudge-nudge wink-wink.
