Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Smallville: Season Five: Mercy

Judging from the blurb on TV GUIDE.com it's about a guy who uses riddles and puzzles against Lex, making it sound like the Riddler's in this episode, but why, that is if it's him? He's a Batman foe, not Superman's. Or has he also gone up against Supes at some time or other, anyone know?

By Uno-man on Thursday, April 20, 2006 - 3:27 pm:

Don't know about Riddler but there was a Prankster, kinda like Riddler and The Flashs Trickster.
But knowing the way TPTB has put together Smallville, it's hard to say whos going to end up there. I wouldn't be suprised at all if it was Riddler.

It wasn't The Riddler. Why don't you guys wait till the episode acually airs before posting speculation?

Sorry.
didn't mean to irritate you.

Just finished watching it now and it was some mystery man behind what looked like a mask made of aluminum foil. He used a voice disguiser gadget but it still kinda sounded like Michael Rosenbaum's voice, so at first I was thinking it'd be him but of course it wasn't.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!!!

And with the ending, well, who else is guessing that Lionel's been possessed, if that's the right word, by Jor-El? Or maybe be some other Kryptonian.

Ease up there, Crusher. I was only going by what TV GUIDE.com said, which made it sound like yet another possible appearance by a DC character was all. We're all welcome to give our opinions and speculations on episodes before they air, and if you don't like that, fine, but you also don't have to read those posts either now, do ya?

Sorry, didn't mean to sound mean. Forgive me please.

And how am I supost to know what a post says before I read it? :)

For someone who was "ruined" by Lionel, our trikster friend sure could afford to wip up an elaborate (and expensive looking) set of traps.

Good episode, but here's a nit:

When Clark stopped the falling elevator, he didn't decelerate the elevator slowly, which means that the elevator went from at least 60 mph to zero mph almost instantaneously. This is pretty much the same thing that would have happened if the elevator had slammed into the bottom of the shaft. So why were Lionel and Martha unharmed by the effects of the sudden deceleration?

By MarkN on Sunday, April 23, 2006 - 2:45 am:

It's ok, Crusher. No harm done.

Yeah, Ryan, I was thinking the same thing. I also wondered why didn't Clark either just crouch down the split second he took hold of the elevator to try minimizing the force of impact or else why not just stand outside the doorway, grab the edge of the elevator and then try slowing it down that way?

But then of course we all know the real reason why they did it as shown: BILC! :)

Lionel has the same laptop as me (a Dell Latitude)! It's nice to see that the super-rich (and villainous) are satisfied with my university-issued computer. :)

For awhile there some years back when the iMacs were brand new you'd suddenly see 'em all over in TV episodes, then later it'd be the eMacs, I think it was, the half-moon-shaped ones with adjustable attached monitors, and also some Mac laptops were shown and now it's Dells, especially on shows that feature high tech toys, like ALIAS, the various CSI's and whatnot.
