...is the MAN.
Though I love listening to him (got about 1/2 a gig of his stuff downloaded), he's written a couple things.
Napalm & Silly Putty His new one. Freaking hilarious. All I can say is that this one is REQUIRED reading.
Brain Droppings Reading it now. Really funny; enjoying it. It contains a line (in both books, he has sections between every couple chapters of random one- or two-line rantings): "In some places, a seventeen-year-old girl needs a note if she is absent from school. She does not need one to get an abortion."
With that quote, one must keep in mind that this man is more liberal than *I* am. ^^
Hannah,
If I read George Carlin right calling him liberal insults him. (Ever listen to his stuff to upset feminists?) He is apolitical. (Ever hear his bit on why he doesn't bother to vote?)
If you want a liberal try Garrison Keillor. (Of course his humor is not at all like Carlin's.)
William,
I'm liberal, and if I'm feeling spunky enough, I will off a few feminists. ^^
Yes, I've got the 'voting' bit on my computer (up yours, RIAA.)
I've read and listened to a great deal of his stuff. Trust me, he's liberal.
Keillor, on NPR? Yeah, I like him.Prarie Home Companion, Lake Woebegone...
**now listening to Monty Python's "Medical Love Song." Has anyone else heard this? This is some seriously weird, f'ed up sh**.**
You need a medical dictionary for this song.
I like Chinesse. (and I am too lasy to spell it write)

If you listen to Carlin's early stuff, and then listen to (or read) his newer stuff, you start getting a sense of real, growing bitterness from the man. I find it disquieting.
Well, George has died from a heart attack. He was 71.
I really liked his first two books, as the classic "Baseball/Football" and "A Place For My Stuff" were included.
Especially notable is his take on the pointlessness of Airport Security and the reality about Terrorism, whcih he first performed on stage in 1999, and then, just before 9/11, the routine was included in the Napalm book, with some slight modifications. Interesting!
Also, he slightly changed and altered his original 1992 routine "Rockets & Penises in the Persian Gulf" for the Napalm book, and like I said, it was released a mere two months before 9/11, making it particularly eerie!
He was truly one of the all-time comedy greats, and he will be missed!
When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops also has bits from A Place For My Stuff. So far, WWJBtPC is the only Carlin book I've read.
"If you can't say anything nice about someone...go ahead." - George Carlin
