There's no synopsis for this episode. Do you need one? Okay, here goes! While Straker deals with a possible security leak at the studio (in the form of one lovely reporter) Col. Freeman is left in charge of SHADO. And finds that giving orders is a tough business.
That's great, thanks! Can't see how I missed doing that
The love scene between Straker and Fraser is played in such a reserved and understated manner. It's certainly different than Captain Kirk's technique. He would have grabbed Fraser. On the other hand, none of Kirk's girlfriends stripped off to their bra and panties!
On Moonbase, the usual yellow spacesuit helmets are changed to white ones in the process shots (since the sodium-backing process was used in which yellow is matted out).
On the DVDs, this episode follows Confetti Check A-OK and precedes ESP (it's on DVD 5 with ESP and Kill Straker!)
In the scene where Straker is chasing Fraser, both Fraser and Straker are driving on the right hand side of the road. This is not just due to "reckless" driving. When Straker tries to pass Fraser, the oncoming truck is also driving on the right. All parties should be on the left.
This one's a general nit throughout. They do get it right in "A Question of Priorities" (Straker's car is right-hand driver, and Johnny is sitting on the left), but in general, there's a large consistency issue with right-hand drive and the driving on the left side of the road.
Sooooo... Straker, who was a Commander before he "retired to become a film producer" is worried that there may be a recording of someone asking for Commander Straker?
Riiiiiiiight...
Also if he was so worried, why be so thuggish to deal with her himself? Why not just have someone pretend to be a purse-snatcher & grab her purse? Given what they pulled in Exposed what would be the problem?
That blackmail plot... how 1950s.
"This is Entertainment Tonight we have a report that a divorced producer was having sex with an unmarried woman. The general public is now boycotting all Harrington-Straker films because of this lack of common decency!"
What a silly, naive lady.
Straker shows up unannounced at her hotel room, demands she explain herself, she clobbers Straker with a vase, he chases her down along a remote country road, running her off the road to avoid oncoming traffic, and then she freely goes to Straker's home and expects to have sex with him.
Is it me, or was this written by someone with little experience with real women? That awkward staring between the two of them on the couch was really uncomfortable for me to watch. It was as if they'd just had an arguement, considering Straker's complete lack of a hey-pretty-lady-sit-beside-me smile or expression. He looked like his expression was saying stop-wandering-around-my-home-and-could-you-also-go-away.
This is my least favourite episode. It just seems awkward and not well-written, and doesn't flow properly. It's as if somebody had two ideas, Straker being tricked by a woman with a criminal record, and an out-of-control Moon vehicle that's going to smash into Moonbase, but then not know how to merge them into one story.
The cuts to the awkward Straker/Fraser chases/date/arguments from the crisis on the Moon felt like it was interrupting the 'real' plotline that should have been expanded to the full hour.
An 8-minute-plus cold open. That has to be some kind of record.
At 42:18, there's a reflection of an Alien in Foster's visor.
