When Simon gets back on the ship at the end of the episode, he refers to Book's wound as the "first decent wound" on the ship since his arrival, jokingly lamenting that he wasn't present for it. But what about the stomach wound that Dobson gave Kaylie in the pilot?

I think that since Fox never didn't air the pilot and apparently hadn't intended to air it, the creators went on like it didn't exist. But since we don't deal in reality, your nit stands.

BTW, there's no "i" in Kaylee. Pick pick pick pick pick :)

Well, I'd pick Kaylee. And Inara. And Zoe. And River. :)

No I think that the eventually did air it right before the show was taken off the air.

By Josh M on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 - 10:44 am:

Yeah, they did. I meant that they weren't planning to air it when this episode was being made. Sorry I wasn't clear about that.

But what about the stomach wound that Dobson gave Kaylee in the pilot? (spelling corrected by me)

I think he was referring to the first decent wound since actually becoming the ship's doctor.

Transfered from the other board From the moment Simon and River was kidnapped, I knew the witch angle would come into play. I'm curious to know if Shepard's credintials will come into play again. I loved that scene when Jayne dumped the stuff he stole from Simon back on his bed and then welcomed him back to the ship.

Now having seen all of the eps and the movie multiple times I know that Shepard's creds was not heard from again. Was there any mention of this in the comics/graphic novels? I know that in the pilot he said he's been out of the Abby for a few weeks but he is a bit older and could have had an even more interesting life.

There was a graphic novel called "A Shepherd's Tale" that details Book's past.

Why did no one at the dance festival stop, or even notice, one of the onlookers being dragged away across the open field with a bag over his head? Surely they weren't all in on it?

Would the Alliance really turn away a dying man who turned up on their doorstep? They sure aren't the Federation!

Best line: Yeah, but she's our witch, so cut her the hell down.
