The hero of Candon....
The man they call Jayne!
There's a little production problem. Shortly after seeing the statue, while the group is still gawking at it, watch Simon. At one point he's looking at it, hands on his waist and his mouth closed. The shot changes and his mouth is wide open and he's holding his hands in front of his body.
I suppose I don't have to do this but this is also from the movie board:
Kaylee is trying to get Simon to like her but she's also trying to change who he is. Being proper is all he knows and isn't about to become more like the crew in a few months. I'm a bit surprised that nobody pointed out how strange it was that Jayne's ex-partner could walk after spending four years in that cramped box. His limbs would've atrophied so bad that I doubt he'd even be able to hold up that shotgun, which pumped itself when aimed at Mal.
Kaylee is trying to get Simon to like her but she's also trying to change who he is.
That's a woman for you.
Touché Brian, LOL! Very true
Am I the only one who thought that statue didn't look anything like Jayne?
It boggles the imagination to think that crate stayed undiscovered for years in a camp full of kids. No way.
I think that was kind of the point. These were a bunch of low-skill workers on a backwater moon, none of whom likely had any artistic training.
I thought it looked like him.
But presumably this statue is how the kid recognized him. Kid must've been psychic.
Best Line: You wanna tell me how come there's a statue of you here looking at me like I owe him something?
Hmm, I could've sworn I've posted this before but oh well!
Jayne's former partner was arrested and placed into a 'hot box' as his punishment since that fateful day (at least several months if not years). He's let out to exact revenge but shows no sign of atrophy despite essentially not using his legs since his arrest.
Also, when the guy finds Simon in the bar he fires his shotgun at the ceiling to get the doc's attention. He uses the pump-action properly after the shot but then pumps it again to show Simon he means business; which should eject a live round but doesn't.
