Eppur Si Muove

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: The West Wing: Season 5: Eppur Si Muove

This episode epitomizes one of my major complaints about the current regime - the politicization of science. I have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, and the current regime stocks its scientific boards with people who toe the Republican line. They even ask who they voted for in the interviews for Presidential science advisory boards. They are more concerned with political ideology that with good science. Scientists who agree that the earth is warming, for example, are not welcome in this White House.

Science should only be interested in finding the truth, not following a political ideology. The stem cell debate is a perfect example of right wing ideologues who are jeopardizing the public health and safety of this country by imposing dogma on science.

It is my hope that the next President will correct this problem

I was also just beginning to like Bingo Bob, then he slipped into Lumburgh mode with his duplicity. Will now probably thinks that he hitched his horse to the wrong wagon.

Ellie has quite a cleft in her chin, doesn't she?

I would LOVE to have a screenshot of Big Bird sitting next to CJ. :O

I wish I'd had a bigger TV to be able to appreciate that scene. :)

As for Ellie's speech to the Press Corp at the end, I think I speak for all of us when I say, "HELL YEAH! :D"

Synopsis for this episode: CJ comes up with a brilliant way to get the message out about the First Lady practising medicine again. Josh tries to get some more backsides on the seats in the 6th circuit whilst the rest of the White House deals with a potential conflict of interest between the President and his middle daughter
