Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: The West Wing: Season 6: 2162 Votes

3.5 hours for me...

I'm just afraid that they'll end the show with "And your next President of the United States is...."

You know, Charlie should propose to Zoe RIGHT before that, since it almost seems that's what he wants to do.

By Harvey Kitzman on Wednesday, April 06, 2005 - 8:55 pm:

WOW! Did not see the surprise candidate or the VP choice. I did predict the meeting last week though, but with different circumstances.

Man, I wish I could vote for these guys!

*faints*

So now what? No more episodes until September?

By Hannah F., West Wing/C&J Moderator (Cynicalchick) on Wednesday, April 06, 2005 - 10:47 pm:

Correct. :(

I know the Bartlets are going to do a few more episodes (I guess while the main election is going)

By The Capn on Wednesday, April 06, 2005 - 10:58 pm:

O.O So...

Santos - McGarry...

I love it already. Vinnick is screwed.

Can't wait for the next season... anyone got a fast-forward button for life?

By The Capn on Wednesday, April 06, 2005 - 11:00 pm:

>.> <.< Will I get in trouble for telling the VP candidate now?

By Hannah F., West Wing/C&J Moderator (Cynicalchick) on Wednesday, April 06, 2005 - 11:46 pm:

No, people should be smart enough (esp if they watch this show) to realize that a discussion thread will contain spoilers.

By The Capn on Thursday, April 07, 2005 - 8:15 am:

OK, good. ^^

Another thing...

It was kind of stupid to throw in that other guy, Baker. What's the point in throwing him in if he's not going to win?

...besides adding to the drama. I'm sure the writers could have found a better way to make this episode more exciting without the Baker guy...

I am right that it was Baker, right? I'm still tired, I stayed up too late and got up too early...

What's going to happen about the news leak about the shuttle? Was it C.J.? What will happen if it was?

By Ed Watson on Thursday, April 07, 2005 - 10:05 am:

Kate to Toby: "The FBI has a theory. One you're not going to like."

With CJ being the one that wanted to save the astronauts no matter what, the clear implication is that it could have been CJ. On the other hand, that would be the most out of character thing she's ever done.

Now, about Leo as VP. The man's an alcoholic and barely one year removed from a major heart attack. Am I supposed to believe that those things aren't going to matter in the general election?

C'mon...

Having said all that, I thought the episode was terrific. Santos' speech about us all being broken was quite moving. Of course, didn't we all know who was going to get the nomination? Even if you hadn't read any spoilers, who's picture shows up on the opening credits? Gary Cole? NO, it was Jimmy Smits all along. Dead give away.

By The Capn on Thursday, April 07, 2005 - 1:37 pm:

Even though Leo's an alcoholic, etc, Ed, he would still make the best VP because he has experience in helping to run an administration (not in the VP position, but who cares) and nobody likes Russell.

I honestly hope CJ isn't the leak, even though you can tell that she is... The look on her face when Bartlet is yelling at them to find the leak... eep.

And of course Toby won't like CJ being the leak, because of a quote I read on IMDB... somewhere, CJ said to Toby "You want to make out with me now, don't you?" and Toby (though obviously not seriously) replied "When don't I?"

Anybody know where we can vote to get Jimmy Smits and John Spencer to kick Bush out of the White House? That'd be an amusing news story...

"Breaking news - Jimmy Smits and John Spencer, both currently appearing on 'The West Wing', have broken into the White House and taken over the offices of President and VP. Police suspect this is somehow related to the recent episode in which Smits's character became the Democratic candidate for President and chose Spencer as his Vice. However, police are unable to enter the building because most of the Secret Service agents are fans of the show..."

By Harvey Kitzman on Thursday, April 07, 2005 - 7:16 pm:

Keep in mind that Leo brings gravitas and experience to make up for Santos only being a three term Congressman. Kind of like what Cheney did for W.

By T`Pooh on Thursday, April 07, 2005 - 7:47 pm:

Cheney's had several heart attacks and it didn't keep him out.

By The Capn on Thursday, April 07, 2005 - 7:54 pm:

>.> Hannah, I said 'experience' already, and if I knew what gravitas was, I probably would've said that, too.

Now I feel sad, it doesn't appear that anyone noticed my news report......

By The Capn on Thursday, April 07, 2005 - 7:55 pm:

Whoops, Harvey, you're not Hannah. Shoulda checked on that one. So HARVEY, I said "experience" already, etc..............

With CJ being the one that wanted to save the astronauts no matter what, the clear implication is that it could have been CJ. On the other hand, that would be the most out of character thing she's ever done.

The closing shot of "Things Fall Apart" hints that it might be CJ.

Not really. She's done this before. Remember the season 5 opener? President Walker was briefed about the Sharif assassination and decided to tell the nation, since Danny Kincannnon was about to print his story about it. CJ called Danny and told him to file his story immediately, in order to preempt Walker's statement to the nation. I'd say that the assassination of a foreign leader and the existence of a military shuttle are both right up there in terms of being classified.

By Harvey Kitzman on Friday, April 08, 2005 - 4:31 pm:

I have to admit though, Al Bundy as President would be cool!

I feel kind of sorry for Gary Cole and Tim Mattheson. Bill Lumburgh and Eric Stratton in the White House would have been great.

By Hannah F., West Wing/C&J Moderator (Cynicalchick) on Saturday, April 09, 2005 - 12:29 am:

I think the leak was Toby.

By The Capn on Sunday, April 10, 2005 - 4:51 pm:

No way. CJ felt so strongly about the whole thing, she definitely is the leak.

By The Capn on Sunday, April 10, 2005 - 7:46 pm:

What if we all keep speculating and debating and it turns out to be Kate or something? Or some guest star who's actually never been on before and somehow knows?

By HAMMER on Monday, April 11, 2005 - 11:48 am:

I think it is someone in the main credits, this is a good way to send a character packing in time for all the changes.

I really enjoyed this episode, I would like to see a convention that actually meant something, but I guess those days are long gone.
